  • Patent number: 11736642
Abstract: A reading portion generates an original image including an image of a document sheet. A first document sheet end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is equal to or greater than a threshold value, identifies a peripheral edge shape of the document sheet by detecting a shadow portion that occurs at a peripheral edge portion of the document sheet in the original image. A second document end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is less than a threshold value, identifies the peripheral edge shape based on a specification by the user. A document sheet size determination portion determines a size of the document sheet according to a result of shape identification by the first document sheet end detection portion or a result of shape identification by the second document sheet end detection portion.

  • Patent number: 11710328
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying a presence of a completed document are disclosed. The system may receive an image file from a client device associated with a first document, identify one or more image regions within the image file corresponding to a presence of one or more extractable data entries, selectively extract the one or more extractable data entries, and determine whether the one or more extractable data entries match one or more stored data entries. When the one or more extractable data entries match, the system may determine the status of the first document as completed. When the one or more extractable data entries do not match, the system may proactively replace one or more inconsistent extractable data entries with corresponding stored data entries to form a corrected first document, and generate a request for a client to verify the corrected first document.

  • Patent number: 11704921
Abstract: Character recognition processing suitable to a handwritten character area and a printed character area among character areas in a scanned image of a document is performed. Next, character recognition results for the handwritten character area and character recognition results for the printed character area are integrated and a likelihood indicating a probability of being an extraction target is calculated for a candidate character string that is an extraction candidate among the integrated character recognition results and a character string that is the item value is determined. Then, at the time of the determination, different evaluation indications are used in a case where a character originating from the handwritten character area is included in characters constituting the candidate character string and in a case where such a character is not included.

  • Patent number: 11670102
Abstract: A system can merge text bounding boxes such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) bounding boxes. A document can comprise a plurality of the text bounding boxes. Distance thresholds between text bounding boxes can be utilized for comparison against a distance threshold. Distance thresholds can vary depending on context information associated with the document. In response to a determination that text bounding boxes satisfy the distance threshold, the text bounding boxes can be assigned to a bounding box group.

  • Patent number: 11651526
Abstract: An apparatus and corresponding method for frontal face synthesis. The apparatus comprises a decoder that synthesizes a high-resolution (HR) frontal-view (FV) image of a face from received features of a low-resolution (LR) non-frontal-view (NFV) image of the face. The HR FV image is of a higher resolution relative to a lower resolution of the LR NFV image. The decoder includes a main path and an auxiliary path. The auxiliary path produces auxiliary-path features from the received features and feeds the auxiliary-path features produced into the main path for synthesizing the HR FV image. The auxiliary-path features represent a HR NFV image of the face at the higher resolution. As such, an HR identity-preserved frontal face can be synthesized from one or many LR faces with various poses and may be used in types of commercial applications, such as video surveillance.

  • Patent number: 11562554
Abstract: A technique for improving the computational time for performing a non-maximum suppression operation may include receiving a request to perform a non-maximum suppression operation on a set of candidate predictions of a computing task, and performing a statistical analysis on a set of confidence scores corresponding to the set of candidate predictions to determine a standard deviation of the set of confidence scores. A confidence score threshold can be determined based on the standard deviation. Candidate predictions having a confidence score below the confidence score threshold can then be discarded to form a reduced set of candidate predictions. Additional candidate predictions can be discarded from the reduced set of candidate predictions based on an intersection-over-union overlap metric, and the remaining candidate predictions from the reduced set of candidate predictions can be provided as a result of the non-maximum suppression operation.
