Abstract: A decorative article includes: an iridescent film translucent or transparent overlaid on a substrate member which may be a color sheet, and a filler layer formed beneath the substrate member, whereby upon molding or welding of the iridescent film, the substrate member and the filler layer to form three-dimensional decorative feature having protrusions and recesses on an upper or outer surface of the decorative article to reveal the iridescent colors as reflected by the iridescent film in cooperation with a background color or contrast color of the substrate member for forming shimmer multiple colors for enriching the decorative effect. The article overlaid with the iridescent film will prevent scratching, fading or oxidation defects as found in a conventional electroplated decorative item.
Abstract: An antistatic film comprising a chemically adsorbed film of straight chain molecules each containing a conductive group and provided on a chargeable substrate via covalent bonds each containing a Si group, said chemically adsorbed film having a conductivity of 10.sup.-10 S/cm or above. With the antistatic chemically adsorbed film according to the invention, conductive functional groups are secured via chemically adsorbed molecules and by siloxane bonds to the surface of a substrate material such as ceramics, glass, synthetic resins or synthetic fibers, a film, a plate, an display screen surface, a light-emitting tube. Thus, the film provides an antistatic effect and does not separate. In addition, this chemically adsorbed film has a thickness at the nanometer level and is thus excellently transparent, as well as capable of preventing contamination of the substrate surface due to charging thereof. The film is also excellently durable.

Abstract: A device for shaping a vacuum includes a housing having a primary passageway which includes an inlet. A fluid shaping mechanism is disposed in the primary passageway in fluid communication with the inlet for changing the shape of a fluid flow into a planar fluid flow flowing radially outwardly from a central point. The fluid shaping mechanism includes a conically-shaped portion disposed within the primary passageway, a plurality of secondary passageways extending through the housing from a periphery of the cone-shaped surface to outlets at a bottom surface of the housing, and a reflector adjacent to and spaced from the bottom surface for uniformly reflecting the fluid from the secondary passageways radially outwardly to create a vacuum adjacent thereto.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for forming a pattern on a synthetic wood board to form, on a surface of the synthetic wood board, a pattern such as wooden grain and the like which is close to natural wood, to enhance the reality of woody like appearance. The synthetic wood board is formed by mixing 35-80 wt % of thermoplastic resin material and 20-65 wt %. By a first grinding process, the synthetic wood board is formed at its entire surface of at least one side thereof with a large number of wound stripes in one direction. By a colorant coating process, a colorant is coated on the surface on which said wound stripes are formed, the colorant impregnates in wood meal on the surface to generate blur. And some colorant remain in recess portion of the wound stripes to form recess pigment layer.
Abstract: A decorative laminate surface layer composition is prepared by selectively applying dissimilar thermoset or thermoplastic polymers to a decorative laminate facing sheet to achieve a brillant visual or pearlescent appearance.
Abstract: A method of hardening wooden flooring blanks by impregnating the wooden flooring blanks with a hardener while the wooden flooring blanks are in a bundle, wherein the bundled hardened wooden flooring blanks have improved separation characteristics following completion of the impregnation treatment. The method includes the steps of assembling a plurality of wooden flooring product blanks into a bundle of blanks in surface-to-surface contact with each other and enclosing the wooden flooring blanks in a pressure vessel. The pressure vessel is evacuated and an effective quantity of a hardening composition for being impregnated into the wooden flooring blanks is introduced into the pressure vessel. An effective quantity of a polyethylene glycol composition is introduced into the pressure vessel. The wooden flooring blanks are soaked in the hardening composition and the polyethylene glycol composition for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: A method for coating a substrate having a plurality of channels with a coating media in which the substrate is partially immersed into a vessel containing a bath of the coating media with the volume of coating media lying above the end of the immersed substrate being sufficient to coat the substrate to a desired level. A vacuum is then applied to the partially immersed substrate at an intensity and time sufficient to draw the coating media upwardly from the bath into each of the channels to form a uniform coating profile therein.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the preparation and use of novel polyurethane polyuretidione crosslinking agents in solvent and water borne coatings systems. These polyuretidione polyurethanes are characterized by their relatively low solution viscosity, and the ability to provide a relatively high crosslink density in the final, cured film, and thereby, coatings with the excellent physical properties and resistance to chemical and environmental exposure of known polyurethane systems without the potential for worker exposure to toxic isocyanates. This invention also relates to a process for the production of these polyuretidiones and their use in pseudo-one and two component coating compositions.

Abstract: Reworkable encapsulant formulations are being developed to allow recovery of part-good microelectronic assemblies. According to this invention, a gelled form of the solvent is useful for removing the reworkable encapsulant from a specific region of the assemblies without affecting components on the assembly which do not need to be reworked. This novel method eliminates expensive tooling that would otherwise be required to handle the solvent.

Abstract: A method for producing a patterned shaped article. A prescribed amount of dry particles are supplied onto a position on a base surface. The particles are applied according to a pattern which is desired. A formation device is used to form the particles into a course which corresponds to the pattern desired. The side face of the device has a constant produced angle slope. A different type of dry particles is then supplied onto the remaining portion of the base surface. The particles are allowed to set into an integral mass either as they are or after being overlaid with backing.
