  • Patent number: 9839001
Abstract: Methods and apparatus enabling a wireless network to dynamically change or implement paging mode operation, such as optimization based on one or more network parameters. In one embodiment, the wireless network is a cellular network (e.g., 3G UMTS or LTE), and both base stations and cellular user devices dynamically configure the paging mode operation based on various desired operational attributes relating to the network parameters. Such flexible paging mechanisms may be published to the network users via several methods, and users with appropriately enabled user devices may improve their power and applications performance. Base stations may also advantageously reclaim freed-up cellular resources to support other services. Legacy subscribers are also not affected.

  • Patent number: 9820101
Abstract: System and methods for locating radio-frequency-emitting devices are provided. The method may comprise registering, on a downloadable software application on a first locator device, a trackable device, wherein the registered trackable device emits a radio frequency signal, then detecting, via a radio frequency scan conducted by a second locator device, a sighting of the registered trackable device. The method may then comprise determining, at the second locator device, whether the sighting of the registered trackable device meets criteria defining the sighting as a new location of that registered trackable device, wherein the criteria are configurable on a software application located on a server. Further, the method may include communicating a report of the new location and geographical location to the server, sending a notification from the server to the first locator device that a new location has occurred, and presenting the geographical location of the registered trackable device.

  • Patent number: 9807557
Abstract: A system and method for providing a multimodal list of transceiver devices to a remote terminal is disclosed. A positioning unit determines a location of a remote terminal. A processor identifies transceivers for communicating in at least a first communication mode and a second communication mode according to the location of the remote terminal. The processor retrieves information about the identified transceivers from a database and generates a multimodal list. The processor causes a transceiver to transmit the multimodal list of transceiver devices to the remote terminal using a communication mode of the remote terminal.

  • Patent number: 9788167
Abstract: A BLE location system and method are disclosed. The BLE system may provide accurate location of a BLE enabled object in a three dimensional space. The three dimensional space may be a building and the BLE system and method permits accurate location at a room, bay, and bed level in the three dimensional space to be determined. In some embodiments, the BLE system may determine if a BLE enabled object crosses a boundary and the boundary may be, for example, a boundary to a room, such as a door, a boundary to a space, such as a hallway or meeting area, or a boundary to a particular location identified by set of coordinates (X,Y or X,Y,Z for example). The determination of the boundary crossing of the BLE enabled object or the location of the BLE enabled object may be used for staff and patient locating and their associated workflows as well as high accuracy asset tracking in a hospital embodiment.

  • Patent number: 9736749
Abstract: When a handover request for performing a handover of a terminal (70) from a macro cell C1 to a CSG cell C2 is received from an SeNB 10 (S8), a base station (TeNB) (40) of the CSG cell C2 transmits a handover response in accordance with a handover enabled/disabled state (S12). The handover response includes an identifier of the terminal (70) in the CSG cell C2. Upon receiving the response, the SeNB (10) notifies the identifier to the terminal (70) (S14). The TeNB (40) repeatedly transmits a dedicated signal containing a handover command via a dedicated channel set using the identifier at an interval shorter than a gap period (S18). Accordingly, whether or not access is permitted can be judged promptly and a smooth handover can be realized.
