  • Patent number: 9026414
Abstract: Methods and devices for determining speed control management settings are provided. A vehicle configuration is obtained, specifying at least a transmission, including a number of gears present in the transmission. One or more speed control management modules, such as progressive shift and/or gear down protection modules, are selected by a customer. One or more default progressive shift limits and a default gear down protection limit are calculated, along with gears for which they are active. Performance of the vehicle using the default speed control management settings is simulated and compared to typical vehicle performance. The customer may alter the speed control management settings within dynamically determined valid ranges. The speed control management settings are used in the manufacture or other configuration of the vehicle for the customer.

  • Patent number: 9002688
Abstract: In a method for simulating a measuring process of a workpiece, one or more virtual probes of a workpiece measuring machine are created. A vector of each of the virtual probes is calculated, and an appropriate vector for each of measuring points of a workpiece is acquired for a computerized drawing of the workpiece. The angle between the vector of each of the measuring points and the vector of each of the virtual probes is calculated. A virtual probe is determined for each measuring point according to the calculated angles. The measuring points are sorted according to the virtual probe of each measuring point, and the measuring programs of the sorted measuring points that relate to the same virtual probe are combined. The combined measuring programs are executed to determine whether the actual probe would collide with the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8942966
Abstract: A method for creating a modified realization of a geostatistical model of a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir is described, which may be used in a history matching process. The modified realization is based on a current realization which is a function of a first uniform random number field. At least one further uniform random number field Ui is created and a linear combination made of the first uniform random number field and the further uniform random number field or fields Ui, together with combination coefficients ri, to derive a modified non-uniform random number field V. A uniform score transformation procedure is then performed, e.g. using an empirical cumulative distribution function, on the modified non-uniform number field V, to derive a modified uniform random number field Umod. A modified realization of the model can then be derived from the uniform random number field Umod.

  • Patent number: 8886508
Abstract: A mechanism for improving speed of simulation of complex circuits that include transistors and other devices that share similar properties is provided. Circuit simulation speed is improved by efficiently identifying transistors and other devices having identical properties that share a same state at the time of interest in the simulation. Transistors and other devices are collected into groups having the same characteristics and topologies prior to simulation. Then during simulation, a determination is made as to whether a previously-evaluated transistor or device in the same group as a presently-being evaluated transistor or device has terminal input values that are the same, or nearly the same. If so, then output values of the previously-evaluated transistor or device are used in calculating the output values of the present transistor or device.

  • Patent number: 8886503
Abstract: Implementations of discontinuity detection are described. In one possible embodiment, information associated with a computer-generated model is accessed. A location associated with a feature in the model can be reviewed for possible discontinuity properties by comparing an orientation associated with the location to an orientation of a true normal to the feature associated with a specific point nearby the location. In one possible aspect, if the orientation associated with the location and the true normal are within a given range of one another, the location can be flagged as a possible discontinuity in the feature.

  • Patent number: 8880383
Abstract: In one example, formation fluid flow through a fractured reservoir is simulated using conductivity of aged proppants. A first conductivity profile is received for a proppant. The first conductivity profile describes an ability of the proppant to permit formation fluid flow through a fracture network under reservoir conditions in a fractured reservoir that includes the proppant in the fracture network. The proppant is aged for a duration under the reservoir conditions of the fractured reservoir over the duration. After the duration, a second conductivity profile for the aged proppant is determined. An adjusted conductivity profile for the proppant is determined based on the first conductivity profile and the second conductivity profile. The adjusted conductivity profile is provided as an input conductivity profile for the proppant. The reservoir simulator simulates formation fluid flow through the fractured reservoir using the input conductivity profile.

  • Patent number: 8862450
Abstract: A method of developing a petroleum reservoir from a reservoir model constrained by the production data and seismic attributes. Production data and seismic data are acquired during the development of the reservoir. A first image of a seismic attribute is constructed from the seismic data. Production responses are simulated from a reservoir model using a flow simulator. An image corresponding to the seismic attribute is simulated from the reservoir model. A local dissimilarity map is constructed from the reference seismic attribute image and from the simulated seismic attribute image. The reservoir model is modified to minimize any difference between the measured production data and the corresponding production responses and to minimize local dissimilarities. This model is used to determine an optimal development scheme and the reservoir is developed according to the development scheme.

  • Patent number: 8849620
Abstract: Manufacturing of a shoe is enhanced by creating 3-D models of shoe parts. For example, a laser beam may be projected onto a shoe-part surface, such that a projected laser line appears on the shoe part. An image of the projected laser line may be analyzed to determine coordinate information, which may be converted into geometric coordinate values usable to create a 3-D model of the shoe part. Once a 3-D model is known and is converted to a coordinate system recognized by shoe-manufacturing tools, certain manufacturing steps may be automated.

  • Patent number: 8831919
Abstract: A technique for physically-based cloth simulation uses linear upsampling operators. The upsampling operators enrich the appearance of a coarse mesh physical cloth simulation. The technique starts by pre-computing the upsampling operators using a pair of coarse and fine training simulations aligned with tracking constraints using harmonic test functions. Then the upsampling operators are trained using a novel regularization technique that enables mid-scale detail learning without over-fitting. Oscillatory modes may be introduced to add dynamic details not captured by the coarse mesh simulation alone. Trained upsampling operators can then be advantageously applied to coarse mesh simulations of cloth to add realistic detail to the cloth in real-time three-dimensional applications.
