Patent number: 8280436Abstract: A wireless telephony device includes a memory that stores at least one telephony application. A processor executes the telephony application to process at least one telephone call via a wireless telephony network in response to commands of a user. A breath analyzing sensor analyzes a breath of the user in conjunction with the at least one telephone call and generates breath analysis test data in response thereto. The telephony application generates a breath analysis test message, based on the breath analysis test data and transmits the breath analysis test message via the wireless telephony network.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2009Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Inventor: Patrick G. Harris, Jr.

Patent number: 7085594Abstract: The invention provides a portable telephone apparatus wherein, when a necessary voltage is not obtained from a cell because the cell is removed or consumed, data can be backed up with a simple configuration and at a low cost. A cell is removably accommodated in a cell accommodation portion of the body of a portable telephone apparatus, and the cell accommodation portion is closed up with a cell cover. Opening or closing of the cell cover is detected by a switch serving as a cell cover opening/closing detection apparatus in the body, and is outputted as an interrupt signal to a CPU through a control circuit. When the remaining power of the cell becomes little, a cell remaining power detection signal is outputted as another interrupt signal to the CPU through the control circuit. In response to either interrupt signal, stored data of a RAM are transferred to and protected by a flash ROM.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2001Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Toshikatsu Hosoi

Patent number: 7076278Abstract: A device configured to draw current from one of a PSTN source and a battery source depending on a mode of operation of the device is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the device includes a circuit that is configured to draw current from the PSTN source during a first condition and from the battery source during a second condition. Preferably, the circuit is defaulted to draw current from the battery source. The first condition can be associated with an off-hook condition. The second condition can be associated with an on-hook condition.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2003Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: VTech Telecommunications LimitedInventors: James Kralik, Gary Rogalski

Patent number: 7076233Abstract: An amplitude modulation receiver including an antenna for receiving a signal and an input filter connected to the antenna. A variable gain amplifier is connected to the input filter and is responsive to a gain control signal. An A/D converter is connected to the variable gain amplifier and is responsive to a sampling signal and provides a sampled digital signal. A D/A converter receives a demodulated signal and provides an analog output signal. A controller receives and demodulates the sampled digital signal from the A/D converter, generates the gain control signal for the variable gain amplifier, generates the sampling signal for the A/D converter, and provides the demodulated signal to the D/A converter. The demodulation and generation of the gain control signal and the sampling signal are performed in software.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2003Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Sandbridge Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Daniel Iancu

Patent number: 7068981Abstract: A signal transmission apparatus and method for a mobile communication system are disclosed. Beamforming is performed on each symbol using the correlation as well as the independence between antennas, and then the beamformed symbols are transmitted. Thus, both the correlation between antennas and the independence between antennas are all considered, so that the gain according to the correlation between antennas can be also obtained. In addition, the additional gain would lead to enhancement of the symbol detection capability of the sending end, so that performance of the MIMO system can be remarkably heightened.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventor: Dong Hi Sim

Patent number: 7062241Abstract: Only a single, standard-independent clock rate is generated in a signal processor or a signal processing structure, and correspondingly only precisely one clock frequency generator is then arranged on the chip. The signal processing path includes at least one controllable, asynchronous decimator for transposing the reception signals present in a uniform time frame into a respective standard-specific time frame. This enables signals of a variety of mobile phone standards to be processed.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2003Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: Infineon Technologies AGInventors: Martin Krüger, Dietmar Wenzel

Patent number: 7062249Abstract: A system and method for processing signals in a mobile terminal routes received signals to signal processing units based on the bands in which the signals are located. Routing is preferably performed by a m-pole/n-throw electric switch where m?1 and n?1. The signal processing units may process signals in, for example, the DCN, PCS and GPS bands although other bands are possible. By using an electric switch instead of, for example, a diplexer circuit, the system and method significantly reduces insertion loss while simultaneously increasing the degree of isolation among the different bands of the received signals. Optimal receiver sensitivity is also achieved in each respective band.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2003Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Yong-Cheon Park, Hyung-Kyun Kim
