  • Patent number: 4914854
Abstract: A device for catching roaches and other insects utilizing an electric shock to catch or kill such insects is disclosed. An electrical integrated circuit utilizing automatic on and off switching is used to enable roaches and insects to enter the device and then periodically shock them and kill them. The design provides safety, efficiency and lower cost without environmental pollution thereby permitting use around small children and pets. The device includes a cover which admits roaches and insects into the device and which includes openings that are sufficiently small to prevent entry of a child's hand or a pet's paws. When the cover is removed, a microswitch automatically cuts the electrical circuit off. The device includes a housing in which is located a conical downwardly and inwardly sloping surface on which is carried a helical pair of conductors connected to the electrical circuit.

  • Patent number: 4908973
Abstract: A fishing rod holder adapted to generate a signal in response to a pull on the line of a fishing rod. Including a structure for supporting the fishing rod; an arm which is substantially Z-shaped, one end of the arm is attached to a pivot located at one end of the support and the other arm end is hookably engageable with the line of the fishing rod whereby an outward pull from the line will initiate a pivotable displacable from to an off position and on position. Further including, signal device for generating a signal when the arm is in the on position; a switch associated with the arm and signal for activating said signal to generate a signal when said arm is in the on position in response to a pull on the line of the fishing rod, and for deactivating same signal when the arm is in the off position.

  • Patent number: 4908976
Abstract: A trap for vermin is disclosed. It comprises an elongated tube open at both ends for animal vermin. The internal surface of the tube is coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, thereby causing a vermin which enters the trap to be caught by its paws and a substantial portion of its body. Sealing closures are then provided to close the tube. According to other embodiments, a smaller closed tube, having a plurality of holes, is used in a similar manner to get rid of insects. Or an adhesive-coated string is set up in a location where insects gather, the string being supported in a taut condition. A dispenser may be provided for such string.

  • Patent number: 4905406
Abstract: Method and apparatus for attracting insects to a point above a hat and above a person's head. The apparatus includes a member on one end coated with an insect attractant and a clip means at the other end, such as for clipping onto a hat. The insect attractant can be of a scent to attract insects, such as gnats, mosquitos or flies, and can resemble such scents as body sweat on the skin, natural scents of a person, or scents of male and female insects, thereby attracting both sexes of the insects. The clip on the other end can be a spring clip or an alligator clip, or a head-encircling spring structure.

  • Patent number: 4901774
Abstract: Apparatus for forming closed loops or eyes at opposite ends of a length of wire especially useful in the manufacture of fishing lures wherein a plurality of attractive objects (beads, etc.) are strung on the wire between the closed loops or eyes. The apparatus provides mechanism for forming one straight end portion of the wire into a generally V shape to provide an open loop at the apex of the V, following which a twisting mechanism engages and twists the loop to wrap one leg of the V several times about the other leg so as to close the loop and thereby to produce an eye. The wire is turned end for end and the operation of the mechanism is repeated to form an eye at the other end of the wire.

  • Patent number: 4880153
Abstract: A device for use in explosive welding of two overlapping tubular or annular elements (1, 2) by an explosive charge (3). The explosive charge (3) is located in the hold of the one element (1) in front of the overlapping portion of the other element (2). The elements (1, 2) are surrounded by an annular dolly comprising a plurality of segments (4) which are individually radially movable and associated with braking means. Each segment (4) is provided with a plurality of frictional surfaces (5, 6, 7, 8) which extend radially relative to the dolly and are adjustably forcable against opposed frictional surfaces on a supporting means (9), which bridges the dolly. A device according to the invention absorbs energy efficiently and can be re-used several times without requiring adjustment or replacement of parts incorporated therein.

  • Patent number: 4876819
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fishing reel protector. In one embodiment a reel protector according to the present invention has a plurality of pockets and a flexible and/or extensible connecting member extending between the pockets. The reel protector is made from a flexible material such as cloth, flexible woven or non-woven material, or flexible synthetic material. In one embodiment the pockets of a reel protector according to the invention are disposed about a common mouth which may have an elastic band encircling it to facilitate the securement of the reel protector on a reel. Pockets can be provided to encompass two or more reel parts such as the front of a reel, a reel handle, or the rear of a reel. Since the pockets are made of flexible material, a single reel protector can accommodate a variety of different reels.
