  • Patent number: 9172617
Abstract: A management server receives a server instruction inquiry from an image forming apparatus, and transmits a communication switching instruction to the image forming apparatus as a response to the server instruction inquiry, such that the communication switching instruction switches the communication system for communicating with the image forming apparatus to push communication. After push communication has been established by conducting an initial communication with the image forming apparatus according to the communication switching instruction, the management server issues server instructions to the image forming apparatus by push communication.

  • Patent number: 9166914
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for shared buffer affinity for multiple ports. The mechanism configures a physical first-in-first-out (FIFO) buffer with a plurality of FIFO segments associated with a plurality of network ports. The plurality of network ports share the physical FIFO buffer. The mechanism identifies a FIFO segment under stress within the plurality of FIFO segments. The mechanism reconfigures the physical FIFO buffer to assign a portion of buffer space from a FIFO segment not under stress within the plurality of FIFO segments to the FIFO segment under stress.

  • Patent number: 9160791
Abstract: A method for managing communications for a group of servers is disclosed. A processor sends requests to the group of servers for connection information for generating a set of mappings for a load balancer of the group of servers to replace another set of mappings for another load balancer of the group of servers. Responsive to receiving a communication from a client device for the group of servers, the processor determines whether a route to a server in the group of servers can be identified from the set of mappings for the load balancer. If the route cannot be identified from the set of mappings for the load balancer, the processor forwards the communication to a sub-group of the group of servers that have not yet responded to the requests for connection information for generating the set of mapping so that only the one correct server responds.

  • Patent number: 9137285
Abstract: A system for adaptive audio video (AV) stream processing may include at least one processor and a switch device. The switch device may be configured to route AV traffic to the processor, and to receive AV traffic from the processor and provide the AV traffic to a client device via one or more channels. The processor may monitor a transcoder buffer depth and depths of buffers associated with channels over which the AV traffic is being transmitted. The processor may adaptively modify one or more attributes associated with the AV traffic based at least on the monitored buffer depths. For example, the processor may adaptively adjust a bit rate associated with transcoding the AV traffic based at least on the transcoder buffer depth. The processor may utilize the depths of the buffers associated with the channels to adaptively adjust the amount of AV traffic provided for transmission over the channels.

  • Patent number: 9130831
Abstract: A cloud manager uses streams to monitor state of the cloud. A cloud state streaming policy specifies state data to stream, along with one or more initial operators for processing the streams. An archive mechanism allows archiving the streamed data when specified data in the streams exceeds one or more defined thresholds. A user interface allows adjusting the streaming of cloud state data to focus on data of interest to a user. The cloud manager thus allows a user to determine state of a cloud via the streamed state data.

  • Patent number: 9130826
Abstract: A network architecture system that expands the control network administrators have on existing networks. The system provides application identification and usage data by user, by device and network location. Dynamic traffic mirroring of the system allows for the efficient use of a tool to identify computer applications running on the network. The system includes the ability to embed the tool where needed rather than pervasively based on the use of the dynamic mirroring to bring the packets to the tool. The architecture implemented functions allow the ability to start small with a single application identification tool added to a network management server, examine flows from throughout the network (via mirroring) and upgrade policy control based on real application identification data and usage, then grow to pervasive deployment where virtually all new flows could be identified and controlled via policy. This architecture enables substantially complete application visibility and control.

  • Patent number: 9104637
Abstract: A system and method can support input/output (I/O) virtualization in a computing environment. The system can comprise a chip, which is associated with a server on a network fabric. Additionally, the chip is associated with an external memory that contains a plurality of packet buffers. Moreover, an on-chip memory maintains a state of one or more packets that contain disk-read data received from a physical host bus adaptor (HBA). Furthermore, the chip operates to en-queue said one or more packets in the plurality of packet buffers on the external memory, read out said one or more packets from the external memory based on the state of said one or more packets, and send said one or more packets to the server.
