Resveratrol and its three analogs (pterostilbene, piceatannol and resveratrol trimethyl ether) were evaluated for their effects on the activation of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR?) isoforms, a receptor shown to mediate the activity of lipid-lowering drugs such as the fibrates.
