Abstract: The present invention is an adjustment means for a mandibular advancement device. The mandibular advancement device being of the type having both intraoral and extraoral portions, including a body portion that is at the interface between the intraoral and extraoral portions and thereby is part intraoral and part extraoral. The extraoral portion includes a lower arm that is substantially straight and extends directly outwardly from the extraoral part of the body portion, and a curved upper arm that curves upwardly from the lower arm and back towards the face of a person using the device. The posterior end of the upper arm includes a pad assembly that is adapted to make contact with, and apply pressure to, the subnasal maxillary bone of the wearer. A substantial portion of the lower arm is engageable with motorised means that are encapsulated within the body portion and are adapted to engage with the lower arm and cause it to slide further out of, or slidably retract further into, the body portion.

Abstract: Disclosed are a filter and a noise-reducing earplug, the noise-reducing earplug includes a filter, and the filter includes a shell, a flexible sound filtering block, and an adjustment pressing plate, wherein the shell is provided with a mounting recess and a sound outlet hole communicating with the mounting recess, the adjustment pressing plate is mounted in the mounting recess and forms a compression cavity with the mounting recess, the adjustment pressing plate is provided with sound inlet holes, the flexible sound filtering block is mounted in the compression cavity, the adjustment pressing plate contacts an end of the flexible sound filtering block away from the sound outlet hole, and the adjustment pressing plate is configured to adjust a volume of the compression cavity. The noise-reducing earplug provided in the present disclosure may adjust the noise-reducing effect; and a user may selectively filter external noise to different degrees as needed.

Abstract: A back brace includes first and second flexible belt members; a back plate, means for securing the back plate to the belt members, and a height adjustment member. The back plate is contoured on one side to support a first portion of a wearer's back, and has pairs of openings spaced apart in a vertical direction. The height adjustment member is contoured on one side to support a second portion of the wearer's back, and has a plurality of pairs of protrusions configured to releasably couple to a corresponding plurality of the pairs of openings in the back plate at each of a plurality of different height-adjusted positions. The height adjustment member may have four protrusions that engage two pairs of the plurality of series of pairs of openings in the back plate, to provide greater support and stability to the height adjustment member.

Abstract: Provided is a mouth guard having an outer layer and inner layer and a foam insert layer configured to absorb impact forces. The insert layer is softer than and thicker than the outer layer and inner layer to provide increased force absorption. The outer layer includes a thermos-chromic material that changes color and transparency to provide indication of temperature inside of a user's mouth.

Abstract: A non-fixed shoulder brace is provided comprising: an affected shoulder support which is supported on an affected shoulder of a wearer; a waist support coupled to the wearer's waist; an affected arm mounting part in which the wearer's affected arm is inserted and which is supported by means of an affected shoulder strap member from the affected shoulder support; and an affected upper limb exercise assistance apparatus coupled to both ends of the waist support and disposed between the wearer's waist and the affected arm mounting part.

Abstract: An orthosis having a strap arrangement which is designed to engage on an arm section at the elbow or adjacent to the elbow of the arm extending from the first shoulder joint, which is to be immobilized, in order to fix the elbow frontally on the body of the patient. The strap arrangement has a first strap section which is provided for at least partially looping around the arm section. The strap arrangement has a second strap section which is provided for at least partially looping around the arm section, and is incorporated into the strap arrangement such that, in the fitted state of the orthosis, the second strap section exerts on the arm section a second force which has at least a second component running parallel to the sagittal plane of the patient and horizontally.

Abstract: Improved personal protective equipment facial wear including, in one embodiment, an at least partly adhesive mask, and one or more adhesive eye shields. In one implementation, the mask avoids significant contact with the delicate periorbital skin of the wearer, yet provides a substantially airtight seal so as to preclude moisture vapor transfer and “fogging” of eyeware or instruments. In another implementation, adherence of the eye shield is at least partially overlapping with the mask and creates an at least partial seal around a perimeter of the eye shield. Further, an at least partial seal is formed around a perimeter of the mask. The mask and eye shield additionally prevent nasal air flow obstruction, and address the problem of skin irritation and attachment during normal facial expression and movement of the wearer.

Abstract: A head stabilization device useable for stabilizing a head of a patient during a medical procedure includes a modular design where stabilization assemblies of various configurations are interchangeable at receiving portions along a frame. The device includes a tensioning feature positioned away from the stabilization assembly but still operable to increase or decrease an amount of force the stabilization assembly applies to the patient's head. The device includes a locking feature for a stabilization assembly having a rotatable member having one or more stabilization features connected thereto. The device includes an adjustment feature to adjust a spacing between frame members with the adjustment feature providing a continuous range of adjustment rather than finite adjustment increments.

Abstract: The invention relates to an orthosis joint (5), in particular for forming a functional angle (14) for a deflection on both sides, comprising: a first joint arm (1) and a second joint arm (2) that are mounted on a shaft (7) such that they can be pivoted relative to each other; and at least one functional element (29) that functions as a retractive element between the two joint arms (1, 2) and comprises at least one spring (16, 17) subjected to bending which produces a retractive force (27) on both sides when the joint arms (1, 2) are deflected.

Abstract: A bed apparatus includes: a mattress mounted on a bed body; and, first cells arranged on both left and right sides in a longitudinal direction of the bed body and is configured to change the body position of a patient on the mattress by inflating the first cells alternately. When the first cells on the left and right sides are inflated, and when a difference in pressure between the first cells on the left and right sides has continuously fallen within a decision pressure value range for a decision pressure value continuation time, the body position of the patient is changed, whereas when the difference has not continuously fallen within the pressure value range for the continuation time or when the difference has continuously fallen out of the pressure value range for the continuation time, change of the body position of the patient will not be performed.

Abstract: A mandibular advancement device is provided comprising: an upper tray assembly comprising a rigid upper chassis and a maxillary tray; and a lower tray assembly comprising a rigid lower chassis and a mandibular tray. The upper and lower chassis define an interlocking arrangement configured to releasably lock the upper and lower tray assemblies into a selected one of a plurality of predefined positions. Each of the predefined positions defining a different offset between the upper and lower tray assemblies to enable adjustment of the degree of mandibular advancement when used.

Abstract: Ankle foot orthoses (AFO) and methods of customizing an AFO. In one embodiment, the AFO includes a carbon fiber strut that includes a carbon fiber foot plate; a formable layer that is coupled with the carbon fiber foot plate, the formable layer being formable from an initial shape to a formed shape; an inner boot, where the formable layer being formed into the formed shape is configured to be formed around geometry of portions of the inner boot; and a moldable calf piece that is configured to be attached to the carbon fiber strut. The AFO may also include a strapping system that is coupled between the moldable calf piece and the inner boot. Methods of manufacturing and customizing the aforementioned AFO are also disclosed.

Abstract: A limb support fastening arrangement for fastening a limb support to a limb of a wearer is disclosed. The arrangement comprises a first and second fastening portion, the first portion comprising an inflatable chamber comprising an upper and lower chamber wall and a first fastener disposed proximate the upper chamber wall, the lower chamber wall being arranged in use, to extend proximate the limb of the wearer. The second portion similarly comprises an inflatable chamber comprising an upper and lower chamber wall and a second fastener disposed proximate the upper chamber wall, the lower chamber wall being arranged in use, to extend proximate the limb of the wearer. The fastener associated with the first portion is arranged to detachably couple with the fastener associated with the second portion to detachably couple the first and second portions together, by positioning the lower chamber wall of one portion over the upper chamber wall of the other portion.

Abstract: Devices, apparatus, systems and methods to regulate pressure in earplug are disclosed. Some embodiments provide auditory attenuation and others may further include communications capability. The devices and apparatus are well-suited for use by divers and pilots in particular.

Abstract: An adjustable length brace includes an elongate body encircling portion having a free end having an adjustable length; and an end portion releasably attachable to the free end of the body encircling portion. The length of the brace may be adjusted by adjusting the length of the body encircling portion by adjusting the length of the free end of the body encircling portion, and connecting the end portion to the free end of the body encircling portion to adjust the length of the brace.

Abstract: The present application is directed to a method and system for restraining a patient before, during, or after surgery that increases efficiency of the surgical setup process and minimizes risk of musculoskeletal damage to the patient, particularly in surgeries requiring a patient to be in a Trendelenburg position (e.g., robotic or laparoscopic surgeries). One or more restraints can be worn by a patient prior to surgery', and may function to redistribute the patient's weight across the patient's torso to reduce strain on the patient's shoulders and back. The restraint(s) can be attached to a surgical table by way of an attachment mechanism coupled to the restraint(s) and the table. The attachment mechanism can secure the patient to the table by way of one or more straps, clips, and/or other intermediates. Optionally, the restraint(s) can fulfill other surgical needs, such as heat regulation and vascular compression.

Abstract: Tubular bandage, in particular a finger or toe bandage which is formed as a tube comprising an outer layer which is connected to an inner layer, and wherein the outer layer has a diameter and an elasticity such that the bandage can be clamped adhesive-free around the body part to be treated, in the particular, said finger or said toe, and wherein the inner layer is made of an elastic wound-protective material, wherein said outer layer is made of an air-permeable and water-repellent material, and wherein, at the open endings, said outer layer extends in the longitudinal direction over the inner layer over a distance of more than 0.5 mm, such that the outer layer touches the body part to be treated, in particular a finger or toe, with its endings when applied.

Abstract: A wearable physical rehabilitation device configured to separate the thighs of a subject to promote proper posture of the pelvis while walking is provided. The device comprises a supporting belt fitted around the subject's waist, a 3D wedge-like PU-foam structure arranged between the subject's thighs, a saddle-shaped structure for receiving the subject's buttocks, and a hollow control handle arranged anteriorly relative to the subject's body. The 3D wedge-like structure has a hole and is attached to the belt by a pair of ascending straps each passing through the hole. Each of a pair of lateral straps passes through the hole and attaches the 3D wedge-like structure to and around one of the thighs. The handle has one pair of descending straps extending therefrom and attaching to the saddle-shaped structure and another pair of ascending straps extending therefrom and attached to each other behind the subject's neck.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a respirator and a method of making such respirator are disclosed. The respirator includes a mask body and a harness connected to the mask body. The mask body includes a filtering structure having a central panel, an upper panel separated from the central panel by a first line of demarcation, and a lower panel separated from the central panel by a second line of demarcation. The mask body further includes a bisecting fold, and a transversely-extending three-layer pleat disposed in a central panel of a filtering structure of the mask body. The transversely-extending three-layer pleat is formed in the mask body and is sealed to itself at a first seal location disposed on a right side of the mask body and a second seal location disposed on a left side of the mask body.

Abstract: A toe fixing device that is capable of fixing a patient's ingrown toenail to correct the ingrown toenail, without the assistance of the patient or his or her surgeon, to thus allow an adherent composition to be applied to the ingrown toenail of the patient through the free use of both hands of the surgeon. The toe fixing device includes an upper plate reference part having an upper plate, a long movement guide hole piercedly, and a fixing support stand; a lower plate moving part having a lower plate, a fixing hole, a nut, and a moving support stand; and a position fixing part adapted to fix the lower plate moving part movable to the left and right sides along the long movement guide hole of the upper plate reference part to the upper plate reference part.
