  • Patent number: 9147366
Abstract: In a method for driving a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, an array substrate, a method of manufacturing the array substrate and the LCD device having the same, data signals are boosted by a first and a second boost signals up to a first and a second pixel voltages, respectively. The first and the second pixel voltages are applied to a transmissive electrode and a reflective electrode, respectively. As a result, the retardation of light passing through a liquid crystal layer on the transmissive electrode and the retardation of light of the liquid crystal layer on the reflective electrode may be controlled to be substantially equal to each other. Thus, the LCD device is driven in a transflective mode with a mono-cell gap so that the yield of the LCD device may be increased.

  • Patent number: 9077343
Abstract: A sensing floor to locate people and devices is described. In an embodiment, the sensing floor (or sensing surface), is formed from a flexible substrate on which a number of distributed sensing elements and connections between sensing elements are formed in a conductive material. In an example, these elements and connections may be printed onto the flexible substrate. The sensing floor operates in one or more modes in order to detect people in proximity to the floor. In passive mode, the floor detects signals from the environment, such as electric hum, which are coupled into a sensing element when a person stands on the sensing element. In active mode, one sensing element transmits a signal which is detected in another sensing element when a person bridges those two elements. In hybrid mode, the floor switches between passive and active mode, for example, on detection of a person in passive mode.

  • Patent number: 8922539
Abstract: An image display device employs an interface protocol wherein integrated image plus control data is transmitted from a signal controller circuit to each of a plurality of master data driving circuits. The integrated image plus control data includes display control data as well as image-defining data. The signal controller circuit determines which of a plurality of data driving circuits is to function as a master data driving chip and which as a slave data driving chip. The signal controller circuit directly transmits respective integrated image plus control data signals to corresponding ones of the master data driving chips. Each master data driving chip then forwards part of the received integrated image plus control signal to its corresponding slave data driving chip.
