Patent number: 12014460Abstract: Robust temporal gradients, representing differences in shading results, can be computed between current and previous frames in a temporal denoiser for ray-traced renderers. Backward projection can be used to locate matching surfaces, with the relevant parameters of those surfaces being carried forward and used for patching. Backward projection can be performed for each stratum in a current frame, a stratum representing a set of adjacent pixels. A pixel from each stratum is selected that has a matching surface in the previous frame, using motion vectors generated during the rendering process. A comparison of the depth of the normals, or the visibility buffer data, can be used to determine whether a given surface is the same in the current frame and the previous frame, and if so then parameters of the surface from the previous frame G-buffer is used to patch the G-buffer for the current frame.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2023Date of Patent: June 18, 2024Assignee: Nvidia CorporationInventor: Alexey Panteleev

Patent number: 12008776Abstract: For multi-view video content represented in the MVD (Multi-view+Depth) format, the depth maps may be processed to improve the coherency therebetween. In one implementation, to process a target view based on an input view, pixels of the input view are first projected into the world coordinate system, then into the target view to form a projected view. The texture of the projected view and the texture of the target view are compared. If the difference at a pixel is small, then the depth of the target view at that pixel is adjusted, for example, replaced by the corresponding depth of the projected view. When the multi-view video content is encoded and decoded in a system, depth map processing may be applied in the pre-processing and post-processing modules to improve video compression efficiency and the rendering quality.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2020Date of Patent: June 11, 2024Assignee: InterDigital VC Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Didier Doyen, Benoit Vandame, Guillaume Boisson

Patent number: 11941751Abstract: Techniques for aligning images generated by two cameras are disclosed. This alignment is performed by computing a relative 3D orientation between the two cameras. A first gravity vector for a first camera and a second gravity vector for a second camera are determined. A first camera image is obtained from the first camera, and a second camera image is obtained from the second camera. A first alignment process is performed to partially align the first camera's orientation with the second camera's orientation. This process is performed by aligning the gravity vectors, thereby resulting in two degrees of freedom of the relative 3D orientation being eliminated. Visual correspondences between the two images are identified. A second alignment process is performed to fully align the orientations. This process is performed by using the identified visual correspondences to identify and eliminate a third degree of freedom of the relative 3D orientation.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2023Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Raymond Kirk Price, Michael Bleyer, Christopher Douglas Edmonds, Sudipta Narayan Sinha

Patent number: 11887196Abstract: This application discloses methods, systems, and computer-implemented virtualization software applications and computer-implemented graphical user interface tools for remote virtual visualization of structures. Images are captured by an imaging vehicle of a structure and the captured images are transmitted to a remote server via a communication network. Using virtual 3D digital modeling software the server, using the images received from the imaging vehicle, generates a virtual 3D digital model of the structure and stores it in a database. This virtual 3D digital model can be accessed by remote users, using virtualization software applications, and used to view images of the structure. The user is able to manipulate the images and to view them from various perspectives and compare the before-the-damage images with images taken after damage have occurred. Based on all this the user is enabled to remotely communicate with an insurance agent and/or file an insurance claim.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Bryan R.
