  • Patent number: RE48648
Abstract: An apparatus for adapting hyper cells in response to changing conditions of a cellular network is disclosed. During operation, the apparatus collects data regarding network conditions of the cellular network. In accordance with the collected network condition data, the apparatus changes an association of a transmit point from a second cell ID of a second hyper cell to a first cell ID of a first hyper cell. Virtual data channels, broadcast common control channel and virtual dedicated control channel, transmit point optimization, UE-centric channel sounding and measurement, and single frequency network synchronization are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: RE48663
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for regulating access of consumers (e.g., applications, containers, or VMs) to resources and services (e.g., storage). In one embodiment, this regulation occurs through the movement of consumers between different providers of a resource or service. Moving consumers includes, for example, determining the cost of moving the consumer from a first provider to a second provider. According to various embodiments, the cost of moving the consumer is compared to savings associated with moving the consumer from the first provider to the second provider.

  • Patent number: RE48669
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for identifying, assessing, and responding to vulnerabilities on a mobile communication device. Information about the mobile communication device, such as its operating system, firmware version, or software configuration, is transmitted to a server for assessment. The server accesses a data storage storing information about vulnerabilities. Based on the received information, the server may identify those vulnerabilities affecting the mobile communication device, and may transmit a notification to remediate those vulnerabilities. The server may also transmit result information about the vulnerabilities affecting the mobile communication device. The server may also store the received information about the device, so that in the event the server learns of new vulnerabilities, it may continue to assess whether the device is affected, and may accordingly notify or remediate the device.

  • Patent number: RE48679
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing data transfers between a secure location and a less secure location. A data transfer checker operating on a mobile device determines whether an attempted data transfer between two locations is permitted. If it is not permitted, then the data transfer is prevented and the user may be notified of the data transfer prevention.

  • Patent number: RE48680
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for managing resources in container systems, including multi-cloud systems. The use of supply chain economics alone and in combination with other techniques offers a unified platform to integrate, optimize or improve, and automate resource management in a container system. These techniques may be used to monitor and control the delivery of service level agreements and software licenses. They may also be used to monitor and control contention of computing resources in a container system, and to suspend or terminate computing resources.

  • Patent number: RE48714
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for assuring application performance by matching the supply of resources (e.g., application resources, VM resources, or physical resources) with the fluctuating demand placed on the application. For example, the systems and methods disclosed herein can be used to ensure that the application is allocated sufficient resources when it is initially deployed to handle anticipated demand; dynamically alter the resources allocated to the application during operation by matching the resource requirements to the actual measured application demand; and predict future resource requirements based on planning assumptions related to future application demand.

  • Patent number: RE48716
Abstract: Methods, systems, and arrangements enable increased security for a processor, including by implementing block encryption. The block may include multiple instructions and/or operations to be executed by the processor. The block may also include multiple bytes that are read into the processor byte by byte. Once a block-wide encrypted buffer has been filled from an external memory source, the block may be decrypted using an encryption algorithm (e.g., the Data Encryption Standard (DES), the triple DES, etc.), and the decrypted block may be forwarded to a decrypted buffer. The decrypted block may thereafter be moved into a cache, which may optionally be organized into an equivalent block width (e.g., for each way of a multi-way cache). Therefore, when a processing core/instruction decoder needs a new instruction, it may retrieve one from the cache, directly from the decrypted buffer, or from external memory (e.g., after undergoing decryption).

  • Patent number: RE48875
Abstract: A user equipment for providing information most relevant to a user as the user becomes impaired or experiences diminishing capacity is disclosed. The user equipment includes a transceiver, a memory, at least one sensor for detecting a biometric measurement of a user of the equipment, a user interface and a processor. The processor filters the biometric measurement, calculates a metric based on the measurement, evaluates the metric, selectively adjusts an amount of information displayed on the user interface based on the evaluated metric and executes an application corresponding to a user actuation of an item of the displayed information.

  • Patent number: RE48919
Abstract: Techniques for providing data security services with respect to cloud-based services are described. Examples include a security service provider (“SSP”) configured to perform or provide one or more security-related services or functions with respect to or on behalf of some other system or service. The other system or service may be, for example, a cloud-based system that provides network-accessible services. The SSP allows a user of the cloud-based service to provide and manage one or more security-related services, such as data storage, encryption, decryption, key management, and the like. By using and controlling the SSP, the user can be confident that his or her data is being securely represented and stored, even though it is being operated upon by a cloud-based service that is not under the user's control.
