  • Patent number: 9766636
Abstract: A dilution control device and method of operating the same. The dilution control device can include a structure for dispensing concentrate and diluent fluid in a desired dilution ratio utilizing volumetric dosing. In some embodiments, diluent fluid drives a wheel or compresses a pliable concentrate bag in order to dispense concentrate in the desired ratio with the diluent fluid. In some embodiments, one or more floats can be used to drive a pump or actuate a valve to dispense concentrate at a particular rate proportional with the flow rate of the diluent fluid. In some embodiments, a rocker is responsive to the flow of diluent fluid to pump concentrate. In some embodiments, the dilution control device can be operable to automatically modulate the dispense rate of concentrate when the diluent fluid flow rate is varied in order to maintain a predetermined dilution ratio.

  • Patent number: 9753809
Abstract: Techniques for managing crash in a host computing system in a cluster are disclosed. In one embodiment, a core dump partition may be configured in memory associated with a remote access controller (RAC) within the host computing system. When the host computing system is crashed, a screen shot associated with the host computing system is obtained through the RAC. Further, a first occurrence of crash in the host computing system is determined based on the obtained screen shot. Furthermore, the core dump file associated with the first occurrence of crash is copied from the core dump partition to a shared datastore. Also, the host computing system is reset through the RAC upon copying the core dump file to the shared datastore.

  • Patent number: 9734007
Abstract: Embodiments provide methodologies for reliably storing data within a storage system using liquid distributed storage control. Such liquid distributed storage control operates to compress repair bandwidth utilized within a storage system for data repair processing to the point of operating in a liquid regime. Liquid distributed storage control logic of embodiments may employ a lazy repair policy, repair bandwidth control, a large erasure code, and/or a repair queue. Embodiments of liquid distributed storage control logic may additionally or alternatively implement a data organization adapted to allow the repair policy to avoid handling large objects, instead streaming data into the storage nodes at a very fine granularity.

  • Patent number: 9722862
Abstract: In a system, a first status of a first ESP engine (ESPE) executing at a first computing device is determined as newly active; a last published event block object identifier is determined as an identifier uniquely identifying a last event block object published to an out-messaging network device; a next event block object having an event block object identifier greater than the determined last published event block object identifier is selected from a first computer-readable medium; and the selected next event block object is published to the out-messaging network device. A first event block object is received from a second ESPE executing at a second computing device. A first status of the second ESPE is determined as standby by the second computing device. The received first event block object is stored by the second computing device in a second non-transitory computer-readable medium.

  • Patent number: 9720999
Abstract: Techniques for meta-directory control and evaluation of events are provided. Disparate events from heterogeneous processing environments are collected as the events are produced by resources within the processing environments. The events are filtered and organized into taxonomies. Next the filtered and organized events are assigned to nodes of a Meta directory, each node defining a relationship between two or more of the resources and policy is applied. Finally, additional policy is evaluated in view of the events and their node assignments with other events, and one or more automated actions are then taken.

  • Patent number: 9711809
Abstract: The disclosure teaches controlling the fluid flow and pressure, including adjustable pressure regulators, pressure regulators with an inlet restrictor, semi-automatic valve and pressure regulator with a by-pass valve which use one or more of movable shuttle, shuttle housing, a high pressure diaphragm, a low pressure diaphragm and a fluidic conduit connecting the inlet to the outlet. One or more of these implementations adjust to modify the outlet pressure of the regulator. The inlet restrictor allows incoming fluid to enter the pressure regulators when the pressure of the incoming fluid is higher than a threshold level. The semi-automatic valve is opened manually but closes automatically when fluid flowing through the valve is insufficient to keep the valve open. The semi-automatic valve can also be a semi-automatic electrical switch. The by-pass valve directs the flow to bypass the pressure regulator, when the flow is slow or has low pressure.

  • Patent number: 9707557
Abstract: We describe a method of layer-by-layer deposition of a plurality of layers of material onto the wall or walls of a channel of a microfluidic device, the method comprising: loading a tube with a series of segments of solution, a said segment of solution bearing a material to be deposited; coupling said tube to said microfluidic device; and injecting said segments of solution into said microfluidic device such that said segments of solution pass, in turn, through said channel depositing successive layers of material to perform said layer-by-layer deposition onto said wall or walls of said channel. Embodiments of the methods are particularly useful for automated surface modification of plastic, for example PDMS (Poly(dimethylsiloxane)), microchannels. We also describe methods and apparatus for forming double-emulsions.

  • Patent number: 9702384
Abstract: Provided is a fluid transportation device and a fluid transportation method in which a transported fluid such as a gas or a liquid can be ejected into a space from an ejection unit and transported locally to a target location distant from the ejection unit while minimizing scattering. The transporting fluid is ejected from an ejection port into a space and thereby forms vortex rings, and the transported fluid is fed to the outside of the transporting fluid at a speed that is lower than that at the center of the transporting fluid, whereby the transported fluid is directly accommodated in the vortex rings formed by the transporting fluid moving in a rolling motion at the ejection port, and transported together with the vortex rings.
