Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are configured to reduce energy use in a printing or multi-function device. They include monitoring at least one characteristic associated with operation of a multi-function device in a first mode of operation. They further include determining when a value of the at least one characteristic exceeds a threshold value and communicating programming information associated with operation of the multi-function device in a second mode of operation to a programmable network interface device when it is determined that the value of the at least one characteristic exceeds the threshold. The programming information changing the operating conditions associated with network communication by the programmable network interface device. The printing or multi-function device then operates in the second mode of operation based on the conditions associated with the network communication by the reconfigurable network interface device.
Abstract: A target area of image data of a scanned document is set, in which the target area has a predetermined size and a target pixel, characteristic amounts indicating the brightness at two pixels among the plurality of pixels included in the set target area are obtained, a determination is made on whether or not the difference between the obtained characteristic amounts indicating the brightness is higher than a threshold, a brightness correction amount is decided based on a characteristic amount indicating the brightness of the target pixel and the result of the determination, and the brightness characteristic amount indicating the brightness of the target pixel is corrected based on the decided correction amount.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to the present disclosure has items relating to function control. The image forming apparatus includes a setting section and a classification section. Abstract: An information terminal transmits information relating to user authentication to an image processing apparatus via short-range wireless communication. The image processing apparatus performs processing for the user authentication using the received information, and transitions to a status where a function of the image processing apparatus is used via an operation unit upon condition that the user authentication has succeeded. The information terminal transmits data to be used in any one of individual functions included in the image processing apparatus to the image processing apparatus based on receipt of information indicating successful user authentication from the image processing apparatus. The method includes receiving an input from the user, the input is indicative of a selection of the option to transfer the print job. Abstract: Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of executing a copy job without causing a memory shortage by dividing and sequentially executing the copy job process. The image forming apparatus includes a free area determining unit and a division process executing unit. The free area determining unit compares capacities of work areas necessary for executing a scanning job and a printing job with free area in memory (RAM), respectively. The division process executing unit, in a case where the free area determining unit determines that the free area in memory is equal to or greater than the capacity of the work area necessary for executing the scanning job, but is less than the capacity of the work area necessary for executing the printing job, cancels parallel processing, and after executing the scanning process, saves in a non-volatile memory, and then after restarting, executes the printing process.
