  • Patent number: 10085020
Abstract: A method, a filtering control device, a computer program and a computer program product for processing a first picture in a sample adaptive filtering procedure are disclosed. The first picture is reconstructed from video data. The filtering control device obtains an offset magnitude from the video data. The offset magnitude indicates a magnitude of a sample adaptive offset to be applied in the sample adaptive filtering procedure. The filtering control device obtains an offset sign from the video data. The offset sign indicates a sign of the sample adaptive offset. The filtering control device determines the sample adaptive offset based on the offset magnitude and the offset sign. Moreover, the filtering control device processes, in the sample adaptive filtering procedure, at least a portion of the first picture while applying the sample adaptive offset.

  • Patent number: 10079929
Abstract: Techniques for ability enhancement are described. Some embodiments provide an ability enhancement facilitator system (“AEFS”) configured to enhance a user's ability to operate or function in a transportation-related context as a pedestrian or a vehicle operator. In one embodiment, the AEFS is configured perform vehicular threat detection based on information received at a road-based device, such as a sensor or processor that is deployed at the side of a road. An example AEFS receives, at a road-based device, information about a first vehicle that is proximate to the road-based device. The AEFS analyzes the received information to determine threat information, such as that the vehicle may collide with the user. The AEFS then informs the user of the determined threat information, such as by transmitting a warning to a wearable device configured to present the warning to the user.

  • Patent number: 10027976
Abstract: A coding efficiency increase is achieved by using a common signalization within the bitstream with regard to activation of merging and activation of the skip mode. One possible state of one or more syntax elements within the bitstream may signalize for a current sample set of a picture that the sample set is to be merged and has no prediction residual encoded and inserted into the bitstream. A common flag may signalize whether the coding parameters associated with a current sample set are to be set according to a merge candidate or to be retrieved from the bitstream, and whether the current sample set of the picture is to be reconstructed based on a prediction signal depending on the coding parameters associated with the current sample set, without any residual data, or to be reconstructed by refining the prediction signal depending on the coding parameters associated with the current sample set by means of residual data within the bitstream.

  • Patent number: 10009603
Abstract: A 2D and/or 3D video processing device comprising a camera and a display captures images of a viewer as the viewer observes displayed 2D and/or 3D video content in a viewport. Face and/or eye tracking of viewer images is utilized to generate a different viewport. Current and different viewports may comprise 2D and/or 3D video content from a single source or from different sources. The sources of 2D and/or 3D content may be scrolled, zoomed and/or navigated through for generating the different viewport. Content for the different viewport may be processed. Images of a viewer's positions, angles and/or movements of face, facial expression, eyes and/or physical gestures are captured by the camera and interpreted by face and/or eye tracking. The different viewport may be generated for navigating through 3D content and/or for rotating a 3D object. • Patent number: 10003817
Abstract: Innovations for signaling state of a decoded picture buffer (“DPB”) and reference picture lists (“RPLs”). In example implementations, rather than rely on internal state of a decoder to manage and update DPB and RPLs, state information about the DPB and RPLs is explicitly signaled. This permits a decoder to determine which pictures are expected to be available for reference from the signaled state information. For example, an encoder determines state information that identifies which pictures are available for use as reference pictures (optionally considering feedback information from a decoder about which pictures are available). The encoder sets syntax elements that represent the state information. In doing so, the encoder sets identifying information for a long-term reference picture (“LTRP”), where the identifying information is a value of picture order count least significant bits for the LTRB. The encoder then outputs the syntax elements as part of a bitstream.
