  • Patent number: 11192146
Abstract: A system has a conveyor for carrying at least two categories of scrap particles positioned at random on a surface of the conveyor, with at least some of the particles comprising metal. The system has a sensor array with a series of analog inductive proximity sensors arranged transversely across the conveyor. An active sensing end face of each sensor lies in a sensing plane, and the sensing plane is generally parallel with the surface of the conveyor. A control system of is configured to sample and quantize analog signals from the series of sensors in the array, and locate and classify a scrap particle on the conveyor passing over the array into one of at least two categories of material based on the quantized signals. A method for sorting the particles is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11185870
Abstract: An apparatus for a selective fractionation of ultrafine particles includes at least three separating columns fluidically connected in series by connecting lines. An infeed is arranged to feed into a connecting line which is arranged upstream of each separating column. Each connecting line comprises an inlet for a suspension of ultrafine particles to be separated and an inlet for at least one additional mobile phase. The inlets are alternately operated. A discharge branches off from a connecting line which is arranged downstream of each separating column. Each connecting line comprises an outlet for a first and a second discharge suspension of the ultrafine particles. The outlets are alternately operated. A control means provides a simultaneous switching of the through-flow switching position of the shutoff valves at the inlets and outlets. • Patent number: 11065648
Abstract: A system to automate the separation of agricultural products. The system includes an enclosure, sealed with permeable mesh to permit airflow and walled with non-porous material to prevent agricultural material from escaping the enclosure while allowing for flow to pass freely. This system is capable of separating material without mechanical interaction, such as with grippers or end effectors, and relies on air flow through the enclosure to create separation between the desired and undesired material using ballistic coefficient as a fundamental differentiator between constituent material of the agricultural products. This is accomplished with a variable speed fan which blows air through the enclosure, lifting and separating material based on the ballistic coefficient of that material and the flow settings. Dividers are used to separate and capture the products for retrieval at the conclusion of operation.
