    Abstract: A decal having a body of readily tearable material and a reflective material first face has first, toner, indicia on the first face circumscribing a first area, and second indicia outside of the first area. A protective substantially transparent plastic (e.g. acrylic or polyester) thin (e.g. about 0.001-0.002 inches) film substantially covers the first indicia (and has an area not greater than about 130% of the first area) and protects the first indicia but does not significantly increase the tear resistance of the decal body. The protective film is held to the decal with an aggressive adhesive so that the decal will tear if removable of the protective film is attempted. The protective film may be applied either manually or automatically, and the decal is part of a business form (e.g. a mailer type business form) which has toner indicia on it substantially identical to the first indicia, imaged at substantially the same time using a laser printer.

    Abstract: A form/label combination provides a label and multiple receipts which may be simply constructed from two continuous sheets of paper in one pass through only a coater and a label press. The first sheet of the form/label combination provides an adhesive label on the left side, and a receipt on the right. The label is releasably attached to the left side of the second sheet, while the receipt is detachably attached to the right side of the second sheet. An image-transfer mechanism is provided between the two sheets so that images impressed on the first sheet are transferred to the second sheet. A method for manufacturing such a form/label combination is also simple and easy to practice.

    Abstract: The present invention is a drilling system for cutting flat bottomed holes in work pieces. The tool has two opposing angled cutting edges extending from a rotational axis, with the inner portions of these cutting edges extending upwardly to create an overlapping web at the center. The overlapping web strengthens the center portion of the cuttings edges of the tool. The angle at which the inner portion of the cutting edge is inclined can be increased to create a center point on the cutting surface of the tool. The center point adds stability to the tool as it rotates along its longitudinal axis. The cutting edge has a rake surface with a positive rake angle that lessens the forces on the insert and also allows for better formation of chips of stock material being removed. Chip breakers can be cut into the cutting edges of the insert, further aiding in the removal of stock material.

    Abstract: The frangible card with a sealed compartment has a top sheet and a bottom sheet made from a synthetic, polymeric, plastic material, both sheets being substantially rigid and being sized and shaped substantially in the form of a conventional credit card, and thus being adapted for transport on or about the person in a wallet or billfold. An information storage medium, such as paper, film, or magnetic storage media, is interleaved between the top and bottom sheets. The top and bottom sheets are sealed around their periphery, preferably by ultrasonic welding, defining a sealed compartment. The top and bottom sheets are opaque in order to preserve the information stored in the sealed compartment in privacy. The top and bottom sheets are scored along one edge, so that access to the compartment is gained by breaking the card along the scored edge. Paper money or other flat valuables may be stored in the compartment with the information storage medium.

    Abstract: A bookmark and pocket assembly for books, where a pocket allows a bookmark to be releasbly secured to the book by slidably inserting it into the pocket. The assembly is generally rectangular in shape and has the bookmark detachably joined on one side to the pocket by a bookmark tear line, and a binding panel detachably joined on another side by a binding tear line. The bookmark has an area defined for an advertisement or aesthetic design and the pocket has a front panel foldably joined to a rear panel. The front panel has an adhesive pattern so that when the rear panel is folded on to the front panel, a recess is formed in generally the same shape and size of the bookmark. The rear panel has a rear adhesive pattern on a back surface for attachment to a book surface and a backing sheet covering the adhesive over its extremities. The binding panel serves and an interface for binding the assembly as an insert to a spine of the book, where the book will then be shipped for resale.

    Abstract: A clip for securing cut sheets of image bearing medium to a notebook or picture book is provided that has an inverted U-shape. The clip is made of an elastic material that has a latch on either end to attach to a cavity in either a notebook, picture book, or similar device. The clip can be made symmetrically so that it can be operated while in a reversed orientation. By producing the clip as a detachable piece, repairs to a picture book become trivial because one can discard the broken clip and simply replace it without needing to discard the entire picture book. Furthermore, this type of paper binding means is ideal for children and the handicapped as the clips can be made of low enough rigidity to enable them to be simply operated, while reducing the odds of accidents resulting from sharp edges or metallic parts. Manufacturing efficiency is increased because the clips and the notebooks can be produced separately and sold disconnected.

The unique chemical signature is applied to the document as ink, so that the validation mark provides information. The validation mark is latent in that the color of the coating matches that of the document, but the directional reflective properties of ink is more uniform than that of the document. In this manner, the letters cannot be readily ascertained by viewing them at an angle perpendicular to the surface of the document, but can be readily ascertained by viewing them at an angle different from that perpendicular to the surface of the document.
