    Abstract: A device for forming an electrical connection between a number of electrical wires comprises an electrically insulating sleeve and a hollow connecting element, for example in the form of a coil, which is formed from solder for forming a solder joint between the wires. The connecting element has a tapering internal surface that is provided with a screw thread, for example by means of the coil windings, arranges so that a temporary electrical connection may be formed between the conductors by twisting them into the connecting element. The woven pattern of plastic like material is typically formed by an injection molding process.The cable can have a plurality of conductors generally labeled as a first conductor, second conductor, and continuing to a last conductor held in a spaced relationship with each other and each of the conductors have a beginning end and a terminating end. A narrow strip of the plastic like compound forms a beginning base around the conductors, then it is woven over the first conductor, under the second conductor, over the third conductor and continuing in this woven pattern until the last conductor is included.

    Abstract: A waterproofed, insulated conductor or cable and a method of fabricating the same using a new slushing compound is described. The waterproofed insulated conductor or cable includes a core with at least one conductor element, a polymeric insulation jacket, at least one textile covering over the polymeric jacket, and at least one waterproof coating on top of said at least one textile covering, the waterproof coating comprising a blend of from 15 to 40, preferably 20, weight percent of pine tar oil, the remainder being essentially natural (Trinidad) asphalt. The invention is especially suitable for fabricating armored cables in which armor wires, deposited on a textile yarn bedding, are embedded in a coating of the blend and further are covered by at least one textile yarn roving and a waterproof coating on top of each of said at least one waterproof coating.

    Abstract: A multi-core electrical cable for use in the supply of electricity to certain electrical devices such as vapor lamps and the like comprises a molded-on outer sheath and at least two separately insulated inner core cables. At least one of the core cables has a high tension conducting core with an overall cross-sectional area of at least 1 mm square. Preferably, the high tension conducting core comprises a bundle of at least 32 strands of 0.2 mm diameter tinned copper wire with an insulating sheath which is at least 1.8 mm thick. The molded-on outer sheath of the multi-core cable preferably totally encapsulates the inner cables to a depth of at least 1.3 mm.

    Abstract: An aerial closure for protecting an electrical or optical cable splice from weathering forces is provided. The aerial closure has a central header portion and wing-like housing segments that may enclose a cable splice. The wing-like housing segments may be raised, providing access to the cable splice from either side of the cable splice and below the cable splice. Each end of the aerial closure has a seal assembly for sealingly engaging the ends of the cable segments whereby the ends of the aerial closure are also protected from the weathering elements. The seal assembly has concentrically circular and corrugated features thereon so that an appropriately sized hole may be cut into the seal assembly for any standard cable size. The corrugated features allow marking the standard cable sized alternatingly on either side of the seal assembly so that it is easier to find and cut the correct sized hole for the cable. The housing segments may be locked with a simple latch, a nut and bolt assembly, or both.

    Abstract: A coaxial conductor includes a BNC coax connector, a coaxial cable and a sleeve. The coaxial cable has a center conductor, a braided outer conductor, a dielectric which separates the center conductor from the braided outer conductor and an insulating jacket which is provided around the braided outer conductor. One end of the insulating jacket is stripped so as to expose a portion of the braided outer conductor. The exposed portion of the braided outer conductor is pulled over the insulating jacket so as to expose a portion of the dielectric. The exposed portion of the dielectric is stripped so as to expose a portion of the center conductor which is extended into a tubular inner conductive portion of the coax connector so as to connect electrically therewith. The sleeve has a front end with a wide tubular part which engages a tubular outer conductive portion of the coax connector and a rear end with a narrow tubular part.

    Abstract: The duct comprises an inner tube in which the wires are disposed, and this inner duct is placed inside an outer tube so as to provide a continuous inner space between the tubes, which completely surrounds the inner tube. A water inlet is in communication with the inner space and water is allowed to penetrate into the inner space upon the opening of a valve. The valve is operated by a fire detector. Upon activation of the valve in case of fire, water circulates through the inner space and is rejected into a drain. This system constitutes a fire and heat barrier for the wires of a building, for example.

    Abstract: This invention features an assembly that creates a strong bond connection between a conductive polymeric element of a cable, such as a polymeric conductive core or polymeric conductive shield layer, and an electrical connector. The invention features two components: a newly styled connector, and an intermediate sleeve. The newly styled connector is made of an inner, concave, bullet-shaped recess that fits within an outer, deformable shell. The intermediate sleeve joins the polymeric element of the cable and the electrical connector. The sleeve consists of two sections. The first section has a solid, convex, bullet-shaped nose portion that fits into the concave, bullet-shaped recess located in the connector. The two bullet-shaped male and female surfaces mate with each other; they are metallic, so that they are easily solderable.

    Abstract: The present invention features a new "filter line" cable having a temperature-enhancement jacket layer composed of, in various forms, a Teflon layer or fused Teflon/Kapton layers. The filter line cable has a conductive core having a primary insulation layer. Over the primary insulation is a filtering layer made up, at least in part, of ferromagnetic particles (ferrite or magnetite) within a polymeric matrix such as Viton, a fluorinated elastomeric polymer. These ferromagnetic particles may or may not be metal-coated. In addition, they may also be "spherical", to enhance the filtering effect. The filtering layer provides the "filter line" protection against internal RFI and microwave interferences traveling down the wire.
