  • Patent number: 5502282
Abstract: A sleeve head for a cable sleeve having a seal insert of elastic material and having pressure-producing elements, preferably screws for compressing the seal insert. The cable sleeve is conically expanded in the introduction region into which an initially adapted, conical seal insert is introduced. After introduction of the cables, pressure is generated on the seal insert in axial direction with the pressure-producing elements. As a consequence of the conical fashioning at the circumference of the cable sleeve, a radial compression of the elastic material of the seal insert ensues, and a sealing ensues as a result thereof. Cable clamp devices aligned with the cable introduction openings are provided in the inside of the cable sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5496968
Abstract: A shielded cable connecting terminal includes a conductor, a cable sheath insulating the conductor, and a conductive braid wound around the cable sheath. The terminal further comprises: a terminal body having an electrically connecting portion connectable to a mating terminal at one end and a cylindrical portion connectable to the end of the shielded cable at the other end; and a conductive pipe for receiving the conductor of the shielded cable therein and fitting into the cylindrical portion. A collar is disposed on the conductive pipe into which the shielded cable is inserted and an insulating portion is formed on the edge surface of the collar. As a result, short-circuiting caused by possible contact between fraying strands of the braid of the shielded cable and the terminal is avoided. Further, the use of the inexpensive conductive pipe lowers the overall cost of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 5496979
Abstract: An accelerometer (10) having a sensing mass (36) which is displaced in response to acceleration so as to alter the amount of light coupled between a pair of optical fibers (42, 44). An optical coupling is responsive to displacement of the sensing mass indicative of a vehicle crash situation. In operation, the sensing mass (36) interrupts the transmission of light through the output optical fiber (44) as the amount of sensing mass displacement reaches proximate a second position. The accelerometer further provides magnetic damping and testing/recalibration capabilities, and the ability to couple a plurality of accelerometers together in either a daisy chain configuration, or a star configuration.
