  • Patent number: 4660306
Abstract: A trencher attachment for a hydraulic excavator of the truck mounted type enables the excavator to be effectively used in performing trenching functions relative to the construction and maintenance of various underground installations. The trencher attachment and a trencher carried thereby on the free end of a telescopic boom of the excavator can be moved toward and away from the excavator, lifted and lowered, tilted and swung to any desired location where the trencher may be actuated by remote control from the excavator. The trencher attachment thereby enables a trenching operation to be performed in locations heretofore inaccessible to trenchers presently known in the art.

  • Patent number: 4655199
Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a desired spatial relationship between adjacent vertebrae and the sacrum includes a spinal plate which engages both the sacrum and vertebrae. The spinal plate is connected with the vetebrae and the sacrum by fastener assemblies. In order to enable a fastener assembly to engage the relatively thin sacrum, a fixture is connected with the spinal plate to enable the fastener which engages the sacrum to be skewed at an acute angle. The fixture has a mounting end portion which is slidably received in a slot in the spinal plate and a head end portion through which the fastener assembly extends.

  • Patent number: 4654009
Abstract: The voice improving device comprises a means which generally takes the form of a soft glove-like arrangement which is mounted to depress an individual's diaphragm in a range of one to twelve and one half taps per second. Also support means which can take the form of a table may serve as a mount for the soft glove-like means which can be disposed horizontally or inclined upwardly towards the diaphragm or decline downwardly towards the diaphragm in order to depress it. The soft glove-like means may be reciprocated, via moving means which can take the form of a blower or motor connected to the glove-like means, to depress the diaphragm in a range between one to twelve and one half times a second, preferably this range would fall in the 3.5 to 10 times per second category.

  • Patent number: 4653481
Abstract: An advanced spine fixation system includes a plurality of screw clamp assemblies preferably inserted through the pedicle and vertebral body at the vertebra. Each screw clamp includes a removable saddle assembly composed of two halves and each provided with apertures for the reception of rigid support rods which, in one form, form a parallelogram. In another form, the screw clamp receives a single rod, the clamp apertures and the rod being serrated for increasing the purchase. The apertures are proportioned to provide an interference fit with the rods to effect purchase between the saddles and the rods. In use, the screws and clamps are properly placed and a soft temporary master is formed which follows and replicates the contour of reference surfaces on the clamps. The temporary master is then used to form a master pattern which in turn is used to form the rigid rods to the determined contour. The rigid rods are then affixed to the clamp assemblies to provide the rigid support needed for spinal procedures.

  • Patent number: 4651452
Abstract: A snow remover to be used in connection with a truck or other suitable vehicle. The apparatus comprises a snow container which moves on the ground scooping up snow like a snow shovel and is provided with at least one spiral conveyor and a discharge pipe. The snow gathered in the snow container by the spiral conveyor is let out through the discharge pipe, which pipe is provided with a choker. The spiral conveyor (3) is installed within the snow container (1) in a vertical position so that only its bottom part (31) is attached to the snow container. The spiral conveyor (3) has a conical form and is fitted within a conical sheath (5). The top part of the sheath thus forms the choker (52), which is connected to the bottom part (41) of the discharge pipe. The discharge pipe (4) has a cross-sectional area larger than that of the choker (52). The discharge pipe (4) is curved, and its radius of curvature (R) is constant. The discharge pipe (4) is formed of two parts, i.e.

  • Patent number: 4641577
Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the plate segment of an off-set lithographic printing machine drum relative to the drum has first and second blocks, each of which has a threaded bore for receiving the threads of a differential screw. One of the blocks is fastened to the frame of the drum while the other block is moveable on the screw relative to the first block. The threads of the bore in the moveable block have a smaller pitch than the threads in the bore of the fixed block so that the moveable block may be moved in controlled amounts toward and away from the fixed block. The blocks are disposed within a circumferential slot formed on a peripheral edge of the plate segment and as the screw is turned the moveable block acts against an edge of the slot to rotate the plate segment relatively to the drum. A clamp is provided for securing the blocks to the plate segment in adjusted positions.

  • Patent number: 4637381
Abstract: A foot supporting device for pulling the foot muscles back to a relaxation phase intermediate stress phases placed on the foot. The device includes a heel strap which is placed over the heel portion of the foot. An instep strap is placed around the lower instep portion of the foot. Elastic bands extend between the heel strap and the instep strap. The elastic bands pass through a connecting member and are received in an adjusting member whereby adjustment can be made to the tension in the bands, so as to control the pull between the instep strap and the heel strap. A toe strap is elastically coupled to the connecting member for placement around the big toe of the foot. A wire member is connected between the instep strap and the toe strap and placed between the big toe and the second toe of the foot.

  • Patent number: 4635387
Abstract: A snowplow with a blade having a lower edge to which several spring flaps are hingeably linked. Reset springs retain the spring flaps in their working positions, and return the spring flaps to their working positions after having been deflected. To prevent overload of the reset springs, each is supported to be movable in the same sense as the pivoting direction of the associated spring flap, so that the increase in spring force, while the spring flap is being deflected, is at least partially counteracted.

  • Patent number: 4627180
Abstract: An open ended cylindrical casing is provided with a pair of semicircular blades rotatably mounted to the lower open end of the casing so that the blades may be rotated from a digging position where they project downward from the lower end of the casing to a flat position, substantially forming a bottom to the lower end of the casing. To excavate a cylindrical hole the casing is dropped with the blades in the projecting position into the ground causing the blades to dig in a shovel-like manner. By rotating the blades upward substrate is lifted into the casing, and the casing is pulled deeper into the substrate. Lifting the casing out of the hole, the blades act as a bottom to the casing carrying dirt within the casing.

  • Patent number: 4627346
Abstract: In a rotative printing process, especially in flexographic printing and indirect gravure (plate) printing, heat is supplied to the solvent containing printing ink so as to evaporate a portion of the solvent and ensure a reliable emptying of the screen-roller cups or the gravure printing cylinder recesses, whereupon, upon cooling the droplets of ink, there is again obtained a higher viscosity which is advantageous for effecting a print with sharp contours and stable forms.
