  • Patent number: 11197140
Abstract: To control content distribution to plural mobile entities, a device for managing the distribution of the content may determine mobile entities which participate in sharing the same content and which are located in the same region. The mobile entities respectively have a first interface for communication with a mobile communication network and a second interface for forming an ad-hoc network with another mobile entity. A message indicating at least one peer address of a peer mobile entity may be selectively transmitted to a mobile entity. The peer address allows the mobile entity to retrieve at least a piece of the content over the second interface from another mobile entity.

  • Patent number: 11165491
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer-readable media, for location management for satellite systems. In some implementations, a controller of a satellite network system receives location data from a user terminal and registers the user terminal in a mobility area with a core network. The controller updates a mapping between satellite beams and mobility areas as the satellite beams move along the ground with respect to the mobility areas, then uses the updated mapping to communicate with the user terminal using an appropriate satellite beam. In some implementations, a controller of a satellite network system determines a mapping of satellite beams to mobility areas, and broadcasts, for each of multiple satellite beams, a message indicating (i) a set of mobility areas that are at least partially covered by the satellite beam and (ii) an indication of boundaries of the mobility areas in the set of mobility areas.

  • Patent number: 11134461
Abstract: Example implementations may relate to making a determination of whether a mobile device is positioned indoors or outdoors. More specifically, processor(s) may detect that the mobile device is connected to a particular access point and may determine that the particular access point is stationary rather than moving. In response to determining that the particular access point is stationary, the processor(s) may determine (i) a distance between the mobile device and the particular access point, and/or (ii) a connection duration representing a length of time that the mobile device has been connected to the particular access point. Based at least on the determined distance and/or on the determined connection duration, the processor(s) may then make the determination of whether the mobile device is positioned indoors or outdoors.

  • Patent number: 11129025
Abstract: The disclosed techniques enable selective forwarding and blocking of text messages directed to an alias phone number based on a whitelist, as well as text message alerts triggered by text messages from unauthorized originating numbers. More generally, the disclosed techniques enable an enterprise system to store contact phone numbers (i.e., alias phone numbers) for users while avoiding storing and managing personal phone numbers for the user. For example, the enterprise system may forward personal phone numbers to an aliasing server configured to generate alias phone numbers based on the personal phone number. The aliasing server may operate as a “middle man” that receives text messages directed to the alias phone number and that forwards the text messages to the personal phone number when appropriate. The enterprise system may store and maintain the alias phone numbers in lieu of the personal phone numbers.

  • Patent number: 11109342
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and an electronic device for obtaining location information. Available measurement of a target node and multi-hop nodes in multiple consecutive time slices is obtained. A prediction is performed on the unavailable measurement due to the transmission delay to obtain prediction information. Location information of these nodes in the multiple time slices is obtained based on state variables of the target node and multi-hop nodes in the current time slice and mobility constraints, for reconstructing the trajectory information of these nodes. State information of these nodes in the current time slice is initially estimated based on available measurement to obtain initial state estimation in the current time slice. State estimation of these nodes in the current time slice is obtained by jointly processing the available measurement and the prediction information based on the trajectory constraints and the initial state estimation.

  • Patent number: 11096120
Abstract: When a land mobile radio connection to a land mobile radio network is unavailable for a land mobile radio subscriber device, the subscriber device may connect to an alternative network using an alternative connection. The subscriber device may send a copy of a scan list to a gateway configured to perform remote scan and priority operations, similar to the scan operations the subscriber device may ordinarily perform locally. Using the received scan list, the gateway may evaluate the call notifications, determine whether they should be sent to the subscriber device, and send them to the subscriber device over the alternative connection to the alternative network. The subscriber device may receive call notifications over the alternative connection and join active radio calls over the alternative connection. The subscriber device may be able to alter remote scan and priority operations by dynamically altering and sending the scan list over the alternative connection.

  • Patent number: 11071042
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for reducing wireless network congestion comprising receiving an initial request for network access from a mobile device and transmitting a request to a PCRF. The method includes receiving, from the PCRF, a rejection message denying access to data, and denying the initial request for network access based on the rejection message. The method includes, in response to receiving the rejection message, storing information identifying the mobile device and the user associated with the initial request. The method includes receiving a subsequent request for network access, and scanning the memory to determine that identifying information associated with the subsequent request for network access matches the stored information associated with the initial request for network access. Based on the matching stored information associated with the initial and subsequent requests for network access, the method includes denying the subsequent request for network access.
