  • Patent number: 6052586
Abstract: A mobile satellite radiotelephone system uses some of the capacity of a fixed satellite radiotelephone system in areas of congestion. Capacity sharing is obtained by providing at least one fixed retransmitting station in an area of overlap between the fixed and mobile satellite radiotelephone systems. The fixed retransmitting station retransmits communications between the fixed satellite radiotelephone system and at least one of the mobile radiotelephones in the vicinity thereof. The fixed retransmitting station communicates with the mobile radiotelephones using the mobile radiotelephone air interface, so that the communication is transparent to the mobile radiotelephones.

  • Patent number: 5806005
Abstract: A portable image transfer system includes a digital still camera which captures images in digital form and stores the images in a camera memory, a cellular telephone transmitter, and a central processing unit (CPU). The CPU controls the camera memory to cause it to output data representing an image and the CPU controls the cellular telephone transmitter to cause a cellular telephone to transmit the data received from the camera memory. A receiving station is coupled to the cellular telephone transmitter by a cellular network to receive image data and store the images.

  • Patent number: 5802467
Abstract: An interactive microprocessor based wireless communication device includes sound and data transceivers, signal detection and coupling devices, signal conversion device, voice recording, playback and storage device, voice activated device, display device, touch screen or similar device, sensors, frequency generation device, sound detection and reproduction devices and power source to concurrently perform generalized two way wireless communications, command, control and sensing functions utilizing radio and infra-red frequency communication links. A microprocessor receives signals from the touch screen and generates a digital data, command/or control signal for transmission to external devices such as home appliances and remote sensors. The microprocessor also responds to voice signal commands received via microphone and a voice processor. The microprocessor uses this signal to generate data, command/or control signals for transmission to external devices such as telephone, paging and intercom systems.

  • Patent number: 5711000
Abstract: A topology verification process for controlling a Personal Communication Services (PCS) system which includes a plurality of Cordless Fixed Parts (CFP)s. The process includes mapping the spatial relationships of the CFPs utilizing Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) vectors resulting from test signals transmitted between the CFPs, to establish the topology of the system; repeating the mapping process after any disruption of power to the system, and comparing the results. Any significant change in the results, would be highly indicative of a potential change in the geographic area of operation of the system, and can be used to initiate disablement of the system operation.
