  • Patent number: 9801037
Abstract: The transmission of a warning message to a mobile terminal in a mobile communication network is triggered by an emergency event. The mobile terminal is first made aware of the need to receive a warning message by reception of an emergency event notification. The warning message is divided into a plurality of message segments. Each segment is transmitted in a separate paging message over a paging channel to mobile terminals in an idle mode. Information is added to each message segment to enable the mobile terminal to discriminate between segments belonging to different warning messages.

  • Patent number: 9800712
Abstract: Controlling message handling in a mobile communication terminal. A message creation procedure is initiated followed by assigning a destination address to a message. Message content for the message is recorded and subsequent to the assignment of the destination address, a message received from an originating address is recognized. The originating address of the received message is compared with the destination address of the message being recorded. In a case where the comparison results in that the originating address is equal to the destination address the received message is displayed.

  • Patent number: 9801015
Abstract: A system and method for determination the relative location of a mobile object is described that includes building a database of known/expected locations with the exact longitude and latitude for each location. Next, an estimated location for a mobile object is generated using information from the cellular network and an area boundary is defined around the mobile object that defines, with some probability, where the object is actually located. The known locations in the database that fall within the area boundary are then identified and a relative probability is calculated for each known location that indicates its relative likelihood of where the mobile object is actually located. From this information at least the most probable location of the mobile object is determined along with a measure of estimation confidence.

  • Patent number: 9794910
Abstract: Methods and apparatus enabling a mobile device to receive paging notifications from multiple networks. In one embodiment of the present invention, a first device connected to a first network momentarily ignores the first network, to monitor a second network instead. The first device identifies and prioritizes a list of applications of the first network; the prioritized listing allows the first device to preempt one of its lower priority tasks to monitor the second network for paging messages instead. The described methods and apparatus enable e.g., GSM paging for Class B cellular devices which are connected to GPRS NMO-2 type networks. The Class B cellular device can ignore certain GPRS data (which is tolerant to error), to decode GSM paging channels, which would otherwise be missed.
