  • Patent number: 7688785
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for a context transfer in a communication network comprising a plurality of heterogeneous access networks, (220, 221, 222) wherein a mobile terminal is attached to one of the access networks. Further, the present invention relates to a context transfer manager performing the method (220, 600). Moreover, the present invention relates to a mobile terminal specially adapted to perform the provided method for a context transfer. To facilitate a context transfer between heterogeneous access networks, the present invention introduces a context transfer manager generating at least one context based on capabilities and parameters associated to the mobile terminal and capabilities and parameters of the neighboring access networks taking into account the respective access technology (FIG. 5). Further the context transfer manager is common to the heterogeneous access networks in the communication network and performs the context transfers related to a particular mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 7676249
Abstract: Alert methods and apparatus for call appointments in a calendar application based on communication conditions of a mobile station are disclosed. Calendar information for an appointment in the calendar application is received and stored in memory. The calendar information is associated with a date and time of the appointment. In response to identifying an out-of-coverage condition of the mobile communication device within a predetermined time period of the date and time of the appointment, a warning indication is produced at a user interface of the mobile communication device. The warning indication may be or include a message which instructs a user of the mobile communication device to relocate the mobile communication device for removing the out-of-coverage condition, and may also include an audible or vibrating alert. The warning indication may be provided only if a telephone number or other suitable call information is identified within the calendar information.

  • Patent number: 7664502
Abstract: In a radio network controller (100), a buffer (161) for buffering data received from a mobile terminal (MT) via different base stations (BS1 and BSX) is expanded in accordance with the magnitude of the difference between the data transmission time from the base station (BS1) to the radio network controller (100) and the data transmission time from the base station (BSX) to the radio network controller (100).

  • Patent number: 7647042
Abstract: User interface methods and apparatus for processing voice call requests based on communication conditions of a mobile communication device are disclosed. The mobile communication device includes one or more processors, a wireless transceiver coupled to the one or more processors, and a user interface which includes a visual display. A voice call request for a voice call is received through the user interface. If the voice call request is received during an out-of-coverage condition of the mobile communication device, the processor causes a call denial indication to be displayed in the visual display, which indicates that the voice call request could not be completed. The processor also causes a call reminder setup prompt to be displayed, which may be accepted or declined through the user interface.

  • Patent number: 7634278
Abstract: There is provided admission control in view of wireless resources. A base station 120 obtains a down wireless resource available rate (available rate of slot allocation) based on a down QoS requested bandwidth Bi requested by a terminal i during QoS communication and a data rate Ri which the terminal can receive. A down wireless resource usage rate necessary to ensure the requested bandwidth B is obtained by dividing a down QoS requested bandwidth B requested by the terminal trying to perform QoS communication by the data rate R which the terminal can receive. The base station 120 obtains an up wireless resource available rate based on ROT of an up channel and a threshold value T1 indicating an allowable upper limit of the ROT. Besides, an up wireless resource usage rate necessary to ensure an up requested bandwidth requested by the terminal is obtained.
