  • Patent number: 8799165
Abstract: Technologies are generally described for security algorithm methods in authorizing and linking devices associated with a customer. A first device can be linked to a customer account. Additional devices can be linked to the customer account. Those devices can be authenticated to perform banking operations using dual factor authentication wherein a customer's login information is a first factor and the customer using a previously authenticated device is a second factor. By using additional methods of authentication, transactions can be done more reliably and securely.

  • Patent number: 8756162
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for carrying out an electronic transaction according to the following steps: Data exchange between a first network subscriber node (1) and a second network subscriber node (2) is carried out by a first terminal (1a) of the first network subscriber node (1) via a first communication network in order to determine transaction data of the transaction; an identification number of a second end device (1b) of the first network subscriber node (1) is inputted into a second communication network, which is different from the first, by means of a first network subscriber node (1) in the first terminal (1a) of the first network subscriber node (1); the identification number and the transaction data from first network subscriber nodes (1) are transmitted (S1, S2; S1?) to a third network subscriber node (3) by means of a third communication network; the validity of the identification number is verified (S3) by the third network subscriber nodes (3) and an associated service provider node (

  • Patent number: 8738537
Abstract: A method of relicensing digital encrypted radio media content transmitted via a network and received by a user electronic device includes receiving a request to relicense an encrypted digital media data file included within digital encrypted radio media content. The encrypted digital media data file is retrieved from the digital encrypted radio media content stored in a memory of the user electronic device. The encrypted digital media data file is decrypted using a radio encryption key to generate an unbound digital media data file. The unbound digital media data file is bound with the user electronic device to generate a bound encrypted digital media data file. The bound encrypted digital media data file is stored in the memory of the user electronic device.

  • Patent number: 8635163
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating the exchange of electronic video games. A video game exchange server provides interacts with a gaming device to permit a game user to buy and load a video game onto the gaming device, to play the game on the gaming device and to return the “used” game for credits that may be used to purchase a new or used game. The game exchange server assigns a price to each new game and used game in its inventory. The game exchange server also assigns a value to each game currently stored on the gaming device. The game price and the game value may decline as a function of time or based on other factors (e.g., a new release). The game exchange server also validates that a video game stored on a gaming device is authorized.

  • Patent number: 8374968
Abstract: The provided software application includes a module that determines a machine fingerprint of a client device at an appropriate time, such as during initial software load on the client. The fingerprint may comprise various machine-determinable measures of system configuration for the client. Each application copy may be associated with a serial number. A license host may collect serial number, fingerprint and/or IP address information from clients on which the application is installed. The host may generate a map of application installations, including geographic locations of installations and number of unique serial numbers per client in specified regions.

  • Patent number: 8311946
Abstract: A mechanism gives users meaningful access to information while protecting the interests of publishers and creators of information including text, graphics, photos, executable files, data tables, audio, video, and three dimensional data and allows a user to review a document while connected to a network but prevents the user from downloading, printing, or copying the document unless a fee is paid. The user is allowed to review documents at a first cost basis, but only provides other access to documents, such as copying, printing, or downloading on a second cost basis. The user is also allowed to purchase a selectable portion of a document at a price based on the amount of material selected where that amount of material can include a portion of a document, an entire document, or an anthology of components of multiple documents.

  • Patent number: 8306918
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for distributing content over a network. The method distributes a single media storage structure to a device (e.g., a computer, portable player, etc.) that connects to the network. The media storage structure includes first and second pieces of encrypted content. Based on whether the device is allowed to access the first piece of content, the second piece of content, or both, the method provides the device with a set of keys for decrypting the pieces of the content that the device is able to access. The provided set of keys might include one or more keys for decrypting only one of the two encrypted pieces of content. Alternatively, it might include one or more keys for decrypting both encrypted pieces of content. For instance, the selected set of keys might include a first key for decrypting the first encrypted piece and a second key for decrypting the second encrypted piece.

  • Patent number: 8266061
Abstract: A digital content editing apparatus that edits a content having license information defining a grant for a reusing operation or a multiple content including a plurality of the contents includes: a reuse license processor that obtains a constraint indicative of a condition on reuse between a content or the multiple content and a content other than the content or the multiple content from the license information of the content or the multiple content; an instruction generator that generates an operation execution instruction of reusing the content or the multiple content according to the constraint obtained by the reuse license processor; a reusing unit that reuses the content or the multiple content based on the operation execution instruction generated by the instruction generator; and an editor that edits the content or the multiple content reused by the reusing unit.

  • Patent number: 8244639
Abstract: Piracy of digital content is currently a large problem. Copyright notification and sales of metadata can help counteract the problem. The novel solution shows different methods to provide copyright notification and sell metadata, such as including identification of the content (via digital watermarks, fingerprints, or header data) and a personal domain. Metadata is ideal to sell since it is dynamic, and, thus, is accessed from a master server.

  • Patent number: 8019687
Abstract: A digital rights management (DRM) node module for use in a node of a public data includes a node data module that stores DRM data associated with a plurality of digital files, the DRM data including a plurality of DRM identifiers. A packet monitoring module receives the plurality of DRM identifiers from the node data module, that receives packets containing incoming content and compares the incoming content to the DRM identifier, and generates event data when the incoming content matches at least one of the DRM identifiers. A node reporting module receives the event data, and generates node report data based on the event data.
