  • Patent number: 9807403
Abstract: This disclosure proposes techniques to allow more flexibility in filtering chroma components in the adaptive loop filter. In one example, a method for adaptive loop filtering includes performing luma adaptive loop filtering based for luma components of a block of pixels, and performing chroma adaptive loop filtering for chroma components of the block of pixels, wherein filter coefficients for both the luma adaptive loop filtering and chroma adaptive loop filtering are derived from a block-based mode or a region-based mode. The method may further include determining to perform luma adaptive loop filtering on the block of pixels, and determining to perform chroma adaptive loop filtering on the block of pixels, wherein the determining to perform chroma adaptive loop filtering is performed independently of determining to perform luma adaptive loop filtering.

  • Patent number: 9794582
Abstract: The present invention includes an image information decoding method which comprises: a step of receiving a bitstream that includes a network abstraction layer (NAL) unit including information related to an encoded image; and a step of parsing an NAL unit header of the NAL unit. The NAL unit header includes layer information including reserved_one_5bits for identifying an extended layer in an extended bitstream and temporal_id for identifying a temporal layer of a bitstream. The reserved_one_5bits of the layer information is received prior to the temporal_id of the layer information. Thus, a method for describing scalability information in a hierarchical bitstream is provided.

  • Patent number: 9681141
Abstract: Decoding of image data from a bit stream of encoded image data is performed. The image data was encoded in a selected domain by a transform function. A set of coefficients is extracted from the bit stream, wherein the set of coefficients represent a block of the image data. Each coefficient is compared to a theoretical model of a distribution of the coefficient data representative of the transform function. A decoding error is indicated when a coefficient does not lie within the theoretical model.
