  • Patent number: 10652576
Abstract: Innovations in the use of base color index map (“BCIM”) mode during encoding and/or decoding simplify implementation by reducing the number of modifications made to support BCIM mode and/or improve coding efficiency of BCIM mode. For example, some of the innovations involve reuse of a syntax structure that is adapted for transform coefficients to instead signal data for elements of an index map in BCIM mode. Other innovations relate to mapping of index values in BCIM mode or prediction of elements of an index map in BCIM mode. Still other innovations relate to handling of exception values in BCIM mode.

  • Patent number: 10531147
Abstract: The subject system allows a source device providing a content stream over a network connection to a sink device to adaptively bypass a transcoding portion of a content processing pipeline when the original content stream, e.g. the non-transcoded content stream, can be decoded by the sink device and/or when no actions that utilize transcoding have been requested for the content stream. The source device may power down the transcoding portion of the content processing pipeline when the transcoding portion is not in use. When an action that utilizes transcoding is requested, and the transcoding portion of the pipeline is being bypassed, the source device may power on the transcoding portion and adaptively modify the pipeline to pass the content stream through the transcoding portion. The source device may provide configuration messages to the sink device when the pipeline is modified to provide information for decoding the transcoded content stream.

  • Patent number: 10469861
Abstract: The present invention includes an image information decoding method which comprises: a step of receiving a bitstream that includes a network abstraction layer (NAL) unit including information related to an encoded image; and a step of parsing an NAL unit header of the NAL unit. The NAL unit header includes layer information including reserved_one_5bits for identifying an extended layer in an extended bitstream and temporal_id for identifying a temporal layer of a bitstream. The reserved_one_5bits of the layer information is received prior to the temporal_id of the layer information. Thus, a method for describing scalability information in a hierarchical bitstream is provided.

  • Patent number: 10469847
Abstract: Cross-component prediction (CCP) and adaptive color transform (ACT) may be performed concurrently in a video coding system. CCP and ACT may be enabled/disabled at the same level (e.g. at the transform unit level) via an indicator signaled in the bitstream such as the ACT enable indicator for the CU. Inverse CCP and ACT may be operated at the same level (e.g. at the transform unit level). Prediction residuals may be converted to original color space without waiting for reconstruction of luma and chroma residuals of an entire prediction unit or coding unit. CCP and ACT transforms may be combined into one process to reduce encoding/decoding latency. Differences in dynamic ranges of color components may be compensated by variable dynamic range adjustments.
