Abstract: A suspended ceiling system having tiles and fixtures with interspersed hooks resting on runners. The hooks from adjacent ceiling components rest on the top of the same runners, but not upon each other. Each tile, consequently, may undergo removal without interfering or disturbing any of its neighbors. The tiles may have kerfing and backcutting with a metal bracket, or spline, inserted in the kerfing. The hooks extend from the metal bracket upwards and over the top of the suspended runners. Generally, the location of the hooks and spaces form mirror images of each other through a plane passing through the middle of the tile. When used on the opposite side for a neighboring tile, the hooks from either tile land in the space between the hooks on the other tile. Although resting on top of the same runner, they do not lie on top of each other, permitting the removal of one tile without disturbing any others.

Abstract: A straight elongate structural member, and a structure incorporating such members, capable of rigid mounting at its ends into a reticulated structure to form one of a plurality of structural members forming that structure, the member comprising a straight elongate element serially interconnected with a load responsive means which at working loads axially applied to the member is rigid and which at a desired predetermined load, in excess of the working loads, axially applied to the member becomes plastically deformable the predetermined load being less than the critical load of the member when rigidly supported at its ends.
Abstract: End strips for longitudinal edges of a sandwich panel to be used in facade cladding or in garage or entrance doors, the strips being provided with lugs which extend along the length of webs and each of which is arranged to engage with a lug of complementary shape on the other strip. Each lug is disposed on one side edge of the web with an adjoining flange which is disposed at least in part at an acute angle relative to the web, to co-operate with the adjoining cover plate of the sandwich panel.
Abstract: A multipart thermally insulated metal profile for facade structures or roof structures, which receives covering panels made of glass (9) or other materials (10) between an interior profile (2) and an exterior profile (1) with interposition of sealing means (7, 8), while the exterior profile (1) is screwed to insulators (4) let into the interior profile (2), is to be provided with a more favorable heat transfer coefficient, designating the k value, than was hitherto possible. For this purpose the interior profile (2) is composed of a contact profile (11) for covering panels (9, 10) and a screening profile (12) oriented parallel thereto at an interval on the room side, which are mutually connected by means of insulating bars (13) anchored in respective profile grooves and continuous in the longitudinal direction of the profiles.
Abstract: The present invention entails a wood I-joist and method of manufacturing and fabricating the same. Structurally the wood I-joist comprises a web assembly secured between two wood flange assemblies. Each wood flange assembly comprises a plurality of individual wood members secured together in end-to-end relationship to form an elongated wooden member subassembly that extends the entire length of each respective wood flange assembly. A series of wood member subassemblies are glued together in side-by-side relationship to form a respective wood flange assembly. In forming each wood flange assembly, an inner side is provided for receiving the web assembly. Each inner side is formed by providing an opening or void that stretches the entire length of each wood flange assembly to secure the web assembly within this opening or void. There is provided a number of wood wedge members which are driven into the web receiving opening, between each side of the web and an adjacent side of the wood flange assembly.
Abstract: In a series of insulated panel members an interlocking labyrinth seal is provided to minimize the heat loss, the seal having a pair of first slots for receiving a U-shaped clip, a pair of second slots for receiving an offset spacer, and a plurality of right angle flanges for locking the offset spacer into the second slots. Insulated panel members are placed in end-to-end relationship and locked together when the U-shaped clip is inserted into the first slots and retained in position by an undercut slot. Heat loss through the seal is minimized because slots in the spacers expose insulation material into the area where the heat loss can occur.

Abstract: A fire stop for sealing the space between a flue pipe and the periphery of an opening in a floor through which the flue pipe passes comprises a collar having a bore for sealable engagement with the flue pipe. Portion of the outer periphery of the collar tapers in an axial direction for sealing engagement with a correspondingly tapered periphery of the opening. The collar is formed from two collar segments which are pre-fabricated from a fibre reinforced cementitious material which is selected so that the density of the material of the collar is similar to the density of the floor. Each segment extends into the space above the floor. A heating dissipating fin extends radially from the outer periphery of the collar above the opening. In the event of a fire in the flue the collar rises on its taper maintaining sealing engagement with the periphery of the opening and dissipating heat into the heat sink formed by the floor and into the ambient air above the floor.
