  • Patent number: 11854428
Abstract: A tactile display device including a nodule having variable stiffness under a surface to provide a near-real feeling of palpation for a physician. The device utilizes granular jamming technology using pneumatic actuation to control a nodule that maintains its shape while allowing the modulation in stiffness. The nodule includes two hemispheres, a contact portion and an actuation portion, forming a sphere. The contact portion and the actuation portion include different thicknesses and/or materials, while the dimensions of the dimensions of the nodule are maintained. As such, a physician can utilize the device to identify the difference between a normal lump and an affected lump even if the shape of each lump appears to be the same. With the tactile display device, due to the different levels of stiffness, a physician can detect the severity of the lump.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for driver detection are described. One example method includes monitoring data provided by an accelerometer associated with a client device. It is determined whether the data indicates a particular event associated with a vehicle. In response to determining that the data indicates the particular event associated with the vehicle, one or more micro-activities associated with the vehicle are determined based on data from at least one of the accelerometer and one or more other sensors associated with the client device. Results from each of the one or more micro-activities are provided to a trained model associated with the client device. In response to providing the results to the trained model, one or more vehicular events in a time sequence are identified based on the one or more micro-activities associated with the vehicle.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for metering water are disclosed. In some implementations, audio energy corresponding to a flow of material in a pipe that meets a threshold audio energy is detected using a sensor of a batter-operated device connected to the pipe. One or more components of the battery-operated device are activated in response to detecting the audio energy that meets the threshold audio energy. Audio data corresponding to the flow of material in the pipe is collected using the sensor in response to detecting the audio energy that meets the threshold audio energy. The audio data is analyzed using a processing component of the batter-operated device to determine one or more events. An indication of the one or more events is transmitted to an external computing system in response to determining the one or more events.
