Abstract: A system and method for determining optimized resources utilization in a virtual network. The method includes collecting a computing resource parameter from a virtual network, where the computing resource parameter includes at least performance measurements of computing resources in the virtual network; accessing a key performance indicator, where the key performance indicator includes measurement of network traffic performance; and determining, based on the computing resource parameter and the key performance indicator, an optimized resource parameter over a period of time that indicates a usage rule for a computing resource component.

Abstract: Particular embodiments provide a system to determine ad segments in a video asset to enable subsequent ad replacement in video programs. The system is included in a multiple service operator (MSO) system that broadcasts video programs via a broadcast schedule. The MSO may not know the location of the ad segments in the video asset. To determine the ad segments, the MSO uses a classifier to classify video program segments and advertisements in the video asset. The classifier may be integrated with an nDVR system. By integrating with the nDVR system, particular embodiments may determine user behavior information, such as trick play commands, from the nDVR system. The classifier may use the user behavior information to detect ad segments in the video asset. In one embodiment, the classifier may fuse outputs from different detectors to detect and validate ad segments in the video program.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to associate audience members with over-the-top device media impressions. An example audience measurement apparatus includes an impression monitoring system to monitor and log media impressions based on impression requests received via network communications from over the top devices. A linkage database system is to implement the impression monitoring system. A processor in circuit with the impression monitoring system is to: generate Internet protocol (IP) address-to-cookie mappings; associate household identifiers of households with ones of the IP address-to-cookie mappings; and associate ones of the household identifiers to the logged media impressions based on IP addresses associated with the media impressions and based on the household identifiers associated with the ones of the IP address-to-cookie mappings.

The described system provides a remote application server that listens for notifications from one or more published applications launched by a user at a client device, detects a notification from the one or more published applications, forms an intercepted notification packet containing information from the notification, determines whether the client device has enabled polling and adding the notification packet to a queue of notifications when polling is enabled, pushes the queue of notifications when a polling request is received from the client device; and pushes the intercepted notification packet when polling is not enabled. Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, embodiments modifying attributes for media content (provided to subscribers to a media service) to include a giftable attribute, configured as giftable or not giftable. Further embodiments include determining that the giftable attribute configured as giftable responsive to receiving donor user input, which comprises an indication to gift the media content to a recipient. A donor user is a subscriber of the media service while a recipient is a non-subscriber. Additional embodiments include providing a deep uniform resource locator (URL) link (which accesses the media content) to a media device of the recipient. Further embodiments include receiving a request to access the media content responsive to the selecting of the deep URL, requesting registration information for the media service, and providing the media content to the media device responsive to receiving registration information. Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for creating a calendar event in a calendar application to provide at least some attendees with access to supplemental information related to the calendar event. The calendar application is configurable to allow sharing of supplemental information between users who are affiliated with a first organization that utilizes the calendar application in a cloud computing system, and other users who are affiliated with a second organization. When a user affiliated with the first organization creates create a calendar event that includes a list of attendees that includes second user-attendee(s) affiliated with a second organization that utilizes the calendar application, the user can enable sharing of the supplemental information with any of the second user-attendees included in the list of attendees so that they are allowed to view the supplemental information when viewing the calendar event.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies of remote user equipment assessment for network connection provisioning are provided herein. In an embodiment, a method can include receiving, by a server from a network connection client executing on a user equipment, a network connection request to authorize connection to a network. The method can also include determining, by the server, whether the user equipment can support communication via an internet protocol-based advanced service of the network. In response to determining that the user equipment can support communication with an internet protocol-based advanced service of the network, the method can further include authorizing, by the server, a network connection for the user equipment while prohibiting the user equipment from using the internet protocol-based advanced service during the network connection.

Abstract: A device can provide a first instruction to display a grid-based programming guide in a graphical user interface (GUI). The grid-based programming guide can include a plurality of time-scheduled content providers and a plurality of time-scheduled content elements, and a plurality of on-demand content providers and a plurality of on-demand content elements. The device can receive an input associated with a first on-demand content provider, can establish, based on receiving the input, a session with a content platform associated with the first on-demand content provider, and can provide, based on establishing the session with the content provider, a second instruction to display the content in the GUI via the session with the content provider.

Abstract: Disclosed is a display device connection method for rapidly delivering data to a plurality of display devices. A peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay network including the plurality of display devices as member peers is configured to distribute content. In this case, an overlay management server (OMS) connects first member peers through a network as a tree topology using a source peer providing the content as a root node, and transmits fragments of the content to a child peer based on a number of peers to which each of the member peers is capable of transmitting the fragments of the content for a preset period of time, and the source peer directly transmits the fragments of the content to a second member peer that is not included in the tree topology among the member peers based on a predetermined limit on a hop count.

Abstract: When a media client is receiving a media stream, the media client determines an upcoming time point at which the media client is to perform a content revision involving insertion (e.g., substitution or overlaying) of new content. The media client further determines an advanced time point when the media client should initiate a process of acquiring the new content, setting the advanced time point sufficiently in advance of the upcoming content-revision time point to enable the media client to obtain at least enough of the new content to be able to start the content revision on time. In an example implementation, the media client could determine the advanced time point by predicting how long the content-acquisition process will take, based on consideration of past instances of content acquisition, possibly correlated with operational factors such as content source, processor load, memory load, network speed, and time of day.

Abstract: Media content presentation methods are operable to control content presentation on a touch-sensitive display of a multi-media table that is communicatively coupled to a media device that is operable to access the media content. An exemplary embodiment receives, at the multi-media table from the media device, a media content event; presents the media content event on a portion of the touch-sensitive display of the multi-media table; detects a gesture-based touch movement made by a user on the touch-sensitive display; determines an intended user command based on the detected gesture-based touch movement; generates a media device command when the intended user command is configured to control presentation of the media content event; and communicates the generated media device command from the multi-media table to the media device, wherein the media device controls the media content event in accordance with the received media device command.

Abstract: It is possible to satisfactorily insert predetermined information into a media encoded stream and transmit the stream. Divided portions obtained by dividing the predetermined information are sequentially inserted into a predetermined number of unit portions of the media encoded stream as adding sequential information for reconstruction. In this case, the predetermined information is divided so that a bit rate of the predetermined information falls within a predetermined bit rate. A container with a predetermined format including the media encoded stream to which the predetermined information is inserted is transmitted.

Abstract: The current invention relates to a computer-generated method for optimizing placement of advertising content across multiple different devices. The system permits targeting of advertising content to consumers on TV and mobile devices that can be operated from within a multi-channel video programming distributor's environment. The system is able to use hard and soft constraints to come up with a number of possible targets for an advertising campaign and can then provide tools for optimizing those targets. The system can allocate advertising campaigns and plans to various inventory types based on the probability of accurate consumer matching. Consumer matching can be achieved by generation of look-alike models in a consumer's device graph to predict future consumption behavior. The system includes an interface through which a user can adjust various constraints and optimize a distributor's revenue yield from advertising.

The method comprises receiving event data reported by an electronic device by a message queue, assigning a state to each batch by a state management application, processing the batch by the processing application, sending a processed message that identifies the processed batch to the state management application, monitoring the sent processed messages by a state keeper component, wherein the monitoring comprises keeping a list of identities of batches that have been processed, searching the list of identities of processed batches to find an identity of a retrieved but not yet processed batch, stopping processing a batch by the processing application for a batch that is found by searching in the list of identities of processed batches, and assigning a processed value to the state of the retrieved batch that is found in the list of identities of processed batches by the state keeper component.

Abstract: Methods and systems for use in processing streaming video content to determine portions of interest to a viewer and arrange content display accordingly. In various examples, a streaming video processing system determines a plurality of media content tags associated with streaming video content, including a first tag associated with a stored portion of the streaming video content and a second tag associated with a current portion of the streaming video content. The system calculates a first interest correlation value based on the first tag and a cognitive profile associated with a content requestor, and a second interest correlation value based on the second tag and the cognitive profile. When the first interest correlation value indicates a greater interest level than the second interest correlation value, the system facilitates display of the stored portion of the streaming video content prior to display of the current portion of the streaming video content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to determine probabilistic media viewing metrics are disclosed herein. An example apparatus for determining a viewing metric for media to be viewed by a plurality of panelists includes a probability identifier to identify a probability for respective ones of the panelists with respect to the panelists viewing the media. The probability identifier is to identify the probability based on viewing data for the respective ones of the panelists. The example apparatus includes a calculator to calculate the viewing metric for the media based on the probabilities for the respective ones of the panelists and a sampling weight assigned to the respective ones of the panelists.
