  • Patent number: 7815972
Abstract: A polarizing film is provided that prevents display unevenness and can form a liquid crystal display and an electroluminescence display that exhibit excellent display characteristics. The polarizing film is produced in the following manner. That is, a hydrophilic polymer film is conveyed by means of a guide roll so as to be impregnated in an aqueous solvent in a swelling bath and is allowed to swell. In this swelling step, at least a first guide roll is arranged in the swelling bath, and when the polymer film is impregnated in and allowed to travel in the aqueous solvent, the polymer film is brought into contact with the first guide roll within a time up to when swelling reaches a saturation state. Further, the polymer film is dyed using a dichroic substance and stretched.

  • Patent number: 7781025
Abstract: A tool having a grip head and a stem is placed behind the body panel to which the fuel door is hinged. The grip head interfaces with the goose neck of the fuel door at a location not visible to an onlooker when the fuel door is at its open position. The grip head has a predetermined shape which allows it to grasp the goose neck, whereby rotation of the stem (manually or robotically) results in opening and closing of the fuel door selectively as needed for a painting process to ensue.

  • Patent number: 7709059
Abstract: A method for operating a machine for single or double sided application of a liquid or viscous coating medium by way of at least one applicator unit onto the surface of a mating material web, especially a paper or cardboard web is provided. The coating medium collecting unit is cleaned prior to, during or after an application process of the machine, by way of supplying cleaning liquid via the supply line. The valve arrangement can be switched to the second valve condition for clean-up and to the third valve condition for the collection of coating medium in the medium collecting device. The medium collecting unit can be cleaned after start of the application process, during coating, through elements of supplying cleaning liquid via the supply line.

  • Patent number: 7608302
Abstract: A method is described for improving resistance to chemical attack by aluminum or magnesium in refractory components. In one method, a slurry is formed comprising calcium silicate-containing refractory material and a barium-containing compound. This slurry is placed in a mold, then dewatered to form a component which is hydrothermally processed to form a final component. In a second procedure, a silica-containing porous refractory component is impregnated with an aqueous solution of an oxide or hydroxide of barium or strontium and thereafter dried in air.

  • Patent number: 7604844
Abstract: A method is disclosed for scraping a roll surface rotating in a molten metal coating process comprising traversing a support assembly to one side, lifting the arms attached to said the assembly to a fully retracted position to disengage scraper blades from contact with a roll surface; initiating a scrape cycle by means of a trigger signal; lowering the arms and scraper blades in the mid-point of the sink roll; increasing the pressure reference from lifting pressure to approximately zero; energizing one or more directional valves; increasing the pressure value gradually to a preselected pressure; extending the cylinder in a controlled manner to engage the scraper head gently on to the sink roll; moving the engaged scraping head at controlled, predetermined speed from the sink roll mid point to the fully traversed out position; stopping the traversing means upon reaching the fully traversed out portion; and lifting the scraper head from the roll surface by removing pressure from the cylinder; then repeating the

  • Patent number: 7595092
Abstract: A method for coating a fire-resistant substance onto a carrier veil and products containing fire-resistant substances are provided. The method includes delivering a pliable carrier veil in a traveling web, drawing the carrier veil web through a reservoir defined by a nip of two rollers and containing the fire-resistant substance, where the carrier veil is coated with the fire-resistant substance. The method also includes controlling the amount of fire-resistant substance on the carrier veil web by setting a nip dimension between the two rollers, passing the carrier veil through the nip of the two rollers and providing the fire-resistant substance as a slurry suitable to coat the veil exiting the nip with a layer effective to provide a selected fire resistance.

  • Patent number: 7588800
Abstract: A coating may be incorporated in a molded composite article made via a process in which neither the coating nor the resin contact the mold surface. A multilayer sandwich structure is formed having two outside layers of flexible membranes, typically made of silicon. An interior dissolvable film is disposed between the two outer flexible membranes. A layer of fiber reinforcement is disposed between the dissolvable film and one of the flexible membranes. A coating is distributed between a flexible membrane and the dissolvable film, opposite the side having the reinforcement, wherein the film is only slowly soluble, or insoluble, in the coating. The coating is allowed to at least partially cure and a resin is infused through the reinforcement wherein the dissolvable film rapidly dissolves in the resin. The sandwich structure is formed around a mold and the resin is allowed to cure.
