  • Patent number: 10801716
Abstract: Methods for making encapsulated linear lighting with opaque ends are disclosed. Linear lighting is placed in a polymeric channel, and the channel is filled with a resin in order to encapsulate the linear lighting. In order to prevent leaks, the channel is dammed at both ends of the linear lighting with stoppers. The channel has interior engaging features, such as grooves or ridges, that engage with complementary features on the sidewalls of the stoppers to form a seal between the channel and the stoppers. The resin within the channel is caused or allowed to cure. The stoppers are moved back from the cured mass to form a gap. An opaque resin may be poured into the channel and spills into the gap to coat the top and end face or faces of the linear lighting. Once all resin layers are cured, the stoppers are removed from the channel.

  • Patent number: 10788368
Abstract: Disclosed here is a system including a multi-wavelength integrated light source having one or more heaters. The system can comprise a substrate including a light source section, the heater(s), and a plurality of sections. The sections can include multiple materials, where the material for a given section can be based on one or more targeted criteria. For example, one section can have a targeted criteria of being optically transparent. Another section can have a targeted criteria of providing mechanical support, and another section can have a targeted criteria of being a thermal insulator. In some instances, openings in the substrate can be formed and filled with one or more materials to form a window (e.g., a section having a targeted criteria of being optically transparent) and a thermal isolator (e.g., a section having a targeted criteria of being thermally insulating).

  • Patent number: 10724692
Abstract: A light source unit includes a light distribution lens configured to guide light emitted from an LED disposed behind the light distribution lens, and a reflector arranged to surround the light distribution lens. Illuminance unevenness can be more suitably reduced, and effective light is not blocked even if a pinhole device is used for glare prevention, thereby avoiding illuminance unevenness and illuminance reductions. The light distribution lens has a columnar part that extends in the optical axis direction, and a conical recess is formed in the distal end of the columnar part. The conical recess is constituted by a reflective surface that fully reflects, in the circumferential direction, light incident on the light distribution lens. The reflector reflects light emitted from a cylindrical side surface of the columnar part such that the reflected light becomes converging light.
