  • Patent number: 10900380
Abstract: In a turbocharger for receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and for delivering compressed air to the internal combustion engine, a backplate may include a lubricant stall protrusion, such as a rib, may be placed in recirculation or collection recesses of the backplate to stall recirculating lubricant flow and direct the lubricant into a bearing housing lubricant core and drain to reduce an amount of lubricant proximate piston rings and leaking into a compressor housing of the turbocharger. When an lubricant deflector is used, the lubricant stall protrusion stalls recirculating lubricant that is outboard of the lubricant deflector, and may have an outer protrusion edge closely matching the outboard contour of the lubricant deflector to minimize a flow gap there between.

  • Patent number: 10273946
Abstract: A rotary fluid pump-motor includes first and second rotor assemblies and a bent cylinder sleeve. The first rotor assembly includes a first rotor, a piston cylinder, and a flange ring with an inclined guide surface. The second rotor assembly includes a second rotor and a piston. The first and second rotors are rotatably movable about inclined first and second rotor axes, respectively. The bent cylinder sleeve receives the piston cylinder and the piston therein through respective sleeve openings to define a piston chamber therebetween. The bent cylinder sleeve is in at least intermittent contacting relationship with the flange ring's inclined guide surface and rotatably movable about the first rotor axis with respect to the inclined guide surface such that the bent cylinder sleeve moves along the first rotor axis relative to the piston cylinder based upon its circumferential position along the inclined guide surface to correspondingly vary the piston chamber's volume.

  • Patent number: 10220943
Abstract: A blade of a rotor for a rotary wing aircraft. The blade presents a combination of relationships for variation in the sweep, the chord, and the twist of the airfoil profiles of the sections of the blade in order, firstly to improve the aerodynamic performance of the blade both in forward flight and in stationary flight, and secondly to reduce the noise given off during approach flight. The blade is double-tapered and presents three sweeps. The twist relationship is substantially constant over a first portion of the blade, and then decreases over the remainder of the blade in linear or in non-linear manner. Suitable variation in the gradient of the twist of the blade makes it possible to improve the aerodynamic performance of the blade in forward flight and in hovering flight.
