  • Patent number: 10375324
Abstract: A method and system to facilitate identifying and recording capture location of recorded video. A computing system determines multiple locations where a first wireless communication module and second wireless communication module have lost wireless connectivity with each other, as possible locations where a video camera may be used to capture video. The computing system then outputs, for presentation to the videographer or another user, a location-selection prompt that specifies the multiple determined locations as candidate capture-locations for a video that was captured by the video camera. Further, the computing system receives, in response to the location-selection prompt, data that represents a user selection of one of the specified locations. The computing system then records the selected location as capture-location metadata for the video, such as capture-location data integrated with the video or in a database relationship with the video.

  • Patent number: 10367966
Abstract: An image reading device is configure to generate an initial data name of image data to be transmitted to a plurality of designated external devices. The image reading device transmits a list request, to each of the plurality of external devices, to transmit a list of data names regarding image data stored in respective external devices. It is determined whether the initial data name is included in at least one of the lists. The image reading device changes the initial data name to another data name which is included in none of the lists when it is determined that the initial data name is included in at least one of the lists. Otherwise, the image reading device does not change the initial data name. Thereafter, the image reading device transmits the image data to the first external device and the second external device using the data name determined as above.

  • Patent number: 10356350
Abstract: Photocharge is accumulated within an image sensor pixel array during a first exposure interval. At conclusion of the first exposure interval, accumulated photocharge is discarded from a first subset of the pixels to emulate absence of incident light with respect to those pixels. After discarding accumulated photocharge from the first subset of the pixels, first and second readout signals are generated, the first readout signals corresponding to respective pixels not included in the first subset and indicative of photocharge accumulated therein, and the second readout signals corresponding to respective pixels included in the first subset.

  • Patent number: 10334192
Abstract: Optical imaging systems are presented with high performance physical optics in conjunction with advanced image processing technique specifically tuned with respect to those physical optics to realize compact, very high resolution imaging systems. Clever geometric arrangements of lens elements and translation systems to effect motion between those arrangements support very compact storage modes and high performance imaging modes in the same device. As such, these imaging systems disclosed are particularly useful for photography and videography applications where highly portable and compact platforms are in demand. Systems which are small enough to be integrated with a common smartphone computing platform can produce very high resolution images comparable to those of high end digital single lens reflex DSLR systems.

  • Patent number: 10334180
Abstract: In aspects of digital image capture with a polarizer at different rotation angles, a device includes a polarizer that filters light at different polarizations and captures digital images using the polarizer. Each of the digital images are captured at one of different rotation angles of the polarizer. The device implements an imaging algorithm to determine a common region in each of the digital images, the common region having a variable brightness in each of the digital images and the common region in a respective digital image being determined based on a standard deviation of brightness for each pixel in the respective digital image. The imaging algorithm can then determine pixel brightness values of the pixels in the common region for each of the digital images, and select one of the captured digital images with a lowest pixel brightness value in the common region as an output image.

  • Patent number: 10291861
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein concerns a privacy enhancing device for use with IP cameras and related methods. The privacy device includes an adjustable light filter and is configured to be placed over the lens of an IP camera such that the image captured by the IP camera passes through the filter. The transparency of the light filter is controlled using a control module in response to user inputs received using an on-board user interface so as to provide varying levels of privacy ranging from an opaque state and a transparent state. Inputs that serve to facilitate and enhance operation of the device can also be received from other input sources such as connected computing devices. For security, the control path defined by the control module and the on-board user input device can be isolated from other more sophisticated control devices that can be prone to hacking and remote control.
