  • Patent number: 6697620
Abstract: A method and system provide seamless, wireless telecommunication service to customers that move between disparate networks that use different protocols. A Universal Location Service Register (ULSR) communicates and provides mobility management and authentication functions across networks that use different protocols. Instead of associating each MSC with an HLR and an AuC that uses the same messaging protocol as the MSC, each MSC communicates with the ULSR for user information. The ULSR communicates with the MSCs in each network serviced by the ULSR in accordance with the protocol of that network. The ULSR stores user profiles that may include the identity of the user, authentication information for the user's mobile phone, a list of networks the user is authorized to access, and the identity of the MSC at which the user is currently registered.

  • Patent number: 6665528
Abstract: A dual band mixer has a common node for at least one radio frequency input and an intermediate frequency output. The dual band mixer also has a first transistor with a gate coupled to a first local oscillator input and a drain coupled to the common node, and a second transistor with a gate coupled to a second local oscillator input and a drain coupled to the common node. Interconnection circuitry turns off the second transistor when the first local oscillator input signal is applied to the first transistor, and turns off the first transistor when the second local oscillator input signal is applied to the second transistor.

  • Patent number: 6631277
Abstract: In a radio network which employs adaptive antennas for transmission of data to mobiles methods and apparatus are provided for improving the reception of transmitted data. When a block is to be transmitted in a first beam of the antenna and the block contains information for the mobile in the second beam, a modulation and coding scheme is used for the transmission of the block such that the modulation and coding scheme provides greater protection to the portion of the block containing information for the mobile in the second beam. The use of greater protection for the portion of the block which includes information for the mobile in the second beam increases the probability that the mobile in the second beam can receive and correctly decode the information intended for the mobile in the second beam in the block.
