  • Method and apparatus for processing internet site names through regular expression comparison

    Abstract: A method and apparatus is presented where similar Internet site names are handled in an improved manner at a Domain Name Server. In one example, a first site name from a computer system coupled to the Internet is compared to a variety of site names through a regular expression comparison. Thus, a site that has a number of similar site names (and potentially new site names that will have a similar format) will be better able to handle attempted accesses to site names that should logically go to its site.
