Abstract: A transmission level control method in a wireless local loop system capable of suppressing occurrence of an unnecessarily high transmission level, comprises a step of generating a required reception level corresponding to a classification of data, a step of detecting the reception level of data at a receiver side transceiver apparatus, a step of finding a level difference between the detected reception level and the required reception level corresponding to the classification of the related received data, and a step of controlling a change of the transmission level at a transmitter side transceiver apparatus according to this level difference.

Abstract: An Automatic Location Identification (ALI) system for cellular telephone networks, along with a pseudo Automatic Number Identification (ANI) typically representing a particular face of a cell tower receiving an emergency call, compares the electromagnetic footprint of the call to stored field strength data to ascertain the coordinates of a small polygon subsuming the location of the caller. Along with connecting the emergency call to the emergency (i.e., “911”) dispatch center, the system also transmits the caller's Directory Number (DN), the cell tower location, and the coordinates of the location polygon. This approach gives the emergency dispatch center a more definite location than prior art approaches which only provide a large triangular area based on a cell tower face as the location region of the caller. It can also serve as a back-up to more sophisticated resource-intensive approaches using signal time differentials and the like.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for dynamically converting data between a mobile station in a wireless communication network and an origin server in a wide area network. The method includes sending from the mobile station to a gateway server a request for resource located on an origin server in a wide area network. One or more servlets are initiated in the gateway server. The request is processed and information is dynamically generated related to the request by the one or more servlets. The processed request is sent by the one or more servlets to the origin server. The requested resource received from the origin server is then processed by the one or more servlets, which then generate a response including information indicating content type of the requested resource. The requested resource is thereafter converted from the indicated content type to another content type prior to transmission to the mobile station.
