  • Patent number: 10475171
Abstract: A satellite imaging system uses multiple cameras. For example, the incoming light from a telescope section of the satellite goes through a dichroic beam splitter, with the standard visible spectrum going to a first camera and wavelengths outside of the standard visible spectrum, such as in the infrared or coastal blue range, are sent to a second camera, allowing image data from multiple wavelength ranges to be captured simultaneously. The image data from the different wavelengths of the two cameras can then be selectively recombined. In a more general case, there is a first range of wavelengths and a second range of wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 10419739
Abstract: Stereoscopic images are subsampled and placed in a “checkerboard” pattern in an image. The image is encoded in a monoscopic video format. The monoscopic video is transmitted to a device where the “checkerboard” is decoded. Portions of the checkerboard (e.g., “black” portions) are used to reconstruct one of the stereoscopic images and the other portion of the checkerboard (e.g., “white” portions) are used to reconstruct the other image. The subsamples are, for example, taken from the image in a location coincident to the checkerboard position in which the subsamples are encoded.

  • Patent number: 10375395
Abstract: A video processing apparatus includes an external storage device, a hardware entropy engine, and a software execution engine. The hardware entropy engine performs entropy processing of a current picture, and further outputs count information to the external storage device during the entropy processing of the current picture. When loaded and executed by the software execution engine, a software program instructs the software execution engine to convert the count information into count table contents, and generate a count table in the external storage device according to at least the count table contents. The count table is referenced to apply a backward adaptation to a probability table that is selectively used by the hardware entropy engine to perform entropy processing of a next picture.

  • Patent number: 10372970
Abstract: To determine real-world information about objects moving in a scene, the camera capturing the scene is typically calibrated to the scene. Automatic scene calibration can be accomplished using people that are found moving about in the scene. During a calibration period, a video content analysis system processing video frames from a camera can identify blobs that are associated with people. Using an estimated height of a typical person, the video content analysis system can use the location of the person's head and feet to determine a mapping between the person's location in the 2-D video frame and the person's location in the 3-D real world. This mapping can be used to determine a cost for estimated extrinsic parameters for the camera. Using a hierarchical global estimation mechanism, the video content analysis system can determine the estimated extrinsic parameters with the lowest cost.
