  • Patent number: 9904858
Abstract: In an obstacle detection apparatus, a signal output unit is configured to output a signal if an obstacle meets at least one preset signal output condition. A condition setting unit is configured to set at least one element of the at least one signal output condition to a value in dependence on a user entry value. A misalignment detection unit is configured to detect misalignment of an axial direction of a sensor with a longitudinal direction of a vehicle carrying the apparatus. In the apparatus, an allowable range limiting unit is configured to, if a degree of misalignment exceeds a predetermined misalignment threshold, limit an allowable range of values of the at least one element of the at least one preset signal output condition so as to make the at least one preset signal output condition less prone to be met.

  • Patent number: 9898671
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at the vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the vehicle. A control has an image processor that is operable, via image processing of frames of image data captured by the camera, to detect an object present in the field of view of the camera. When the vehicle is moving, the control, responsive at least in part to vehicle motion information and image processing of frames of captured image data, determines motion of the detected object relative to the moving vehicle. The control determines the relative motion of the detected object by (i) determining corresponding object points in at least two frames of captured image data, (ii) estimating object motion trajectory of the detected object responsive to the determination of corresponding object points and (iii) determining the structure of the detected object along the estimated object motion trajectory.

  • Patent number: 9894324
Abstract: A method and a system for using compression sensing to provide low data rate transmission and low computational complexity to determine anomalies in video data obtained by a video camera or other motion detection device. The video data is divided into varying sized video blocks based on an anticipated size of objects of interest within the video, and based on a distance between a video camera and the objects of interest. Features are extracted from the video data of each block to detect anomalies if a feature vector is outside of an “allowed range.” By utilizing varying sized video blocks, anomalies are more effectively and efficiently detected in the video data.

  • Patent number: 9892666
Abstract: Within a particular environment, a projection that may include light or one or more patterns may be directed at one or more mirrors. The projection may be reflected by a first one of the mirrors onto the surroundings of the environment, which may include a floor, one or more walls, and/or objects in the environment having a surface. A second mirror may represent an entire view of the surroundings of the environment. As a result, by taking an image directed at the second mirror, a single image may be captured that represents a view of the entire environment without having to rotate the device that captures the image. The single image may then be utilized to generate a three-dimensional model of the environment.

  • Patent number: 9843785
Abstract: Stereoscopic images are subsampled and placed in a “checkerboard” pattern in an image. The image is encoded in a monoscopic video format. The monoscopic video is transmitted to a device where the “checkerboard” is decoded. Portions of the checkerboard (e.g., “black” portions) are used to reconstruct one of the stereoscopic images and the other portion of the checkerboard (e.g., “white” portions) are used to reconstruct the other image. The subsamples are, for example, taken from the image in a location coincident to the checkerboard position in which the subsamples are encoded.

  • Patent number: 9843821
Abstract: A method and apparatus for inter-view ARP (advanced residual prediction) are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a first inter-view reference block of a first inter-view reference picture in a first reference view is determined using a current MV (motion vector) of the current block in an inter-view direction. A first MV associated with the first inter-view reference block is derived. If the first MV points to a second inter-view reference picture in a second reference view, the derived MV is set to a default derived MV. A second temporal reference block in the second temporal reference picture corresponding to the current block is identified using the derived MV. An inter-view residual predictor corresponding to the difference between a second inter-view reference block in the first reference view and the second temporal reference block is generated and used as a predictor for the current inter-view residual of the current block.

  • Patent number: 9813715
Abstract: A method of decoding a bit-stream of encoded video data in a video decoder is disclosed. The method determines if the bit-stream of encoded video data has extended precision processing enabled and has a bit-depth greater than nine bits, when a profile of the bit-stream of the encoded video data is determined to be unsupported by the video decoder. The bit-stream of the encoded video data is decoded to determine decoded video data, using a profile supported by the video decoder, if the bit stream has extended precision processing enabled and a bit depth greater than nine (9) bits. The decoded video data has differences to the video data encoded in the bit-stream due to the unsupported profile being different to the supported profile.

  • Patent number: 9800883
Abstract: A system and method provides transcoding a video in parallel by multiple transcoders based on a measure of video coding complexity (VCC). The system has a video pre-processing module, a master transcoder, a transcoding controller and multiple transcoders. The video pre-processing module transcodes a source video into an intermediate video. The master transcoder partitions the intermediate video into multiple transcoding units, where a transcoding unit identifies a portion of data of the intermediate video for transcoding. The master transcoder further generates a transcoding request for each transcoding unit. The transcoding controller distributes the transcoding units to the multiple transcoders, which transcode the data of the transcoding units in parallel into transcoded data.
