  • Patent number: 9219906
Abstract: Three-dimensional processing is applied to more than one images taken from different points of view to generate a stereoscopic image, and the stereoscopic image is stereoscopically displayed. An instruction to control a stereoscopic effect of the stereoscopically displayed stereoscopic image is received, and the three-dimensional processing is applied to the more than one images to achieve a stereoscopic effect according to the instruction. Then, control values of the stereoscopic effect according to the instruction are recorded in a recording unit with the control values being associated with the more than one images. At this time, if there are the control values of the stereoscopic effect recorded in the recording unit, difference values between the control values of the stereoscopic effect according to the instruction and the recorded control values of the stereoscopic effect are recorded in the recording unit.

  • Patent number: 9204133
Abstract: Provided is a stereoscopic display device provided with a stereoscopic display panel and a display controller, the stereoscopic display panel including a lenticular lens, a color filter substrate, a TFT substrate, etc. Unit pixels arranged in a horizontal direction parallel to the direction in which both eyes of viewer are arranged are alternately used as left-eye pixels and right-eye pixels. The display controller determined, according to temperature information from a temperature sensor, the contraction/expansion of the lens by a stereoscopic image generating module and generates 3D image data for driving the display panel in which the amount of disparity in a specific disparity direction is corrected on the basis of parameter information defined by an effective linear expansion coefficient inherent in the stereoscopic display panel, or the like and the magnitude of the temperature to thereby ensure a predetermined stereoscopic visual recognition range even when the lens are contracted/expanded.

  • Patent number: 9196059
Abstract: A boundary intra coding flag is obtained according to a current macroblock type. When the boundary intra coding flag indicates that the current macroblock is coded in an intra prediction mode using boundary intra coding, boundary coding information is obtained, and a boundary in the current macroblock is induced based on the boundary coding information. Therefore, the regions divided by the boundary can be coded in the intra prediction mode. The accuracy of a predicted pixel value can be improved by performing the intra prediction for regions divided by the boundary. Accordingly, the residual data transmitted to a decoder can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 9191649
Abstract: Described are a system, apparatus, and method to capture a stereoscopic image pair using an imaging device with a single imaging sensor. Particularly, discussed are systems and methods for capturing a first and second image through an image sensor, determining a vertical and horizontal disparity between the two images, and applying corrections for geometric distortion, vertical disparity, and convergence between the two images. Some embodiments contemplate displaying a directional indicator before the second image of the stereoscopic image pair is captured. By displaying a directional indicator, a more optimal position for the second image of the stereoscopic image pair may be found, resulting in a higher quality stereoscopic image pair.

  • Patent number: 9154809
Abstract: Disclosed is a high-resolution video encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The video encoding method includes: predicting a current block to generate a predicted block, subtracting the predicted block from the current block to generate a residual block, determining a transform and quantization type according to the block type of the current block; transforming and quantizing the residual block according to the determined transform and quantization type; and encoding the transformed and quantized residual block. According to the video encoding/decoding method and apparatus, not only the encoding efficiency can be improved because it enables an encoding using a high correlation between temporally/spatially adjacent pixels appearing in a video, but the compression efficiency can also be improved by reducing block distortion.

  • Patent number: 9148671
Abstract: A method for encoding an intra prediction mode according to the present invention selects an intra prediction mode for a current block, determines the number of valid MPM candidates by checking the validity of MPM candidates of the current block, and if the number of valid MPM candidates is less than a previously set number, adds additional intra prediction modes as MPM candidates. MPM candidates can be adaptively added on the basis of the directionality of valid MPM candidates. Additionally, during the encoding of residual intra prediction modes, residual intra prediction modes are realigned on the basis of the directionality of valid MPM candidates. Accordingly, the present invention minimizes the information for encoding the intra prediction mode of the current block by adding MPM candidates or realigning the residual intra prediction modes on the basis of the directionality of valid MPM candidates.

  • Patent number: 9083986
Abstract: For a portion of video data, a video processing device generates a plurality of compressed video bit streams comprising different bit rates, and selects one stream per portion of video data to transmit to a display device. The streams may be generated concurrently. Bit rates are determined based on operating conditions and link performance. The selections are determined dynamically in response to received information. The streams may be compressed utilizing different compression schemes, for example, DPCM and/or transform compression. The bit rates may be dynamically adjusted by adjusting compression scheme, compression parameters, frame size, frame rate, color space and/or chroma sampling. The portion of video data may comprise contiguous horizontal rows or portions of rows of pixels, a full frame and/or a scaled frame. Information is communicated to the display device for control of decompression operations. The display device receives, decompresses, reconstructs and displays the selected bit stream.
