  • Patent number: 5964891
Abstract: A diagnostic system for a data access networked system (e.g., an Internet/Intranet access networked system) is described. The data access networked system includes a number of data service systems coupled together. Each of the data service systems is independently administrated. The diagnostic system includes a number of diagnostic modules, each running a number of diagnostic tests within one of the data service systems upon receiving a diagnostic request. The diagnostic modules also transmit the diagnostic request and diagnostic results to one another using an open standard communication protocol. The diagnostic system also includes a diagnostic terminal that is coupled to a first diagnostic module of the diagnostic modules to generate the diagnostic request to the first diagnostic module and to display the diagnostic results received from the first diagnostic module. A diagnostic system for a data service system of a data access networked system is also described.

  • Patent number: 5961616
Abstract: A data transfer system includes a host which provides a timing signal and data at an output, and a peripheral device which receives the timing signal and data from the host output, and produces an internal timing signal based on detection of a change in either the data or the polarity of the timing signal provided by the host.

  • Patent number: 5951697
Abstract: An apparatus for testing the sharing of stored information including a computer-readable storage medium and an information sharing protocol test harness module stored on the computer-readable storage medium. The information sharing protocol test harness module executes an information sharing protocol test case on a computer system responsive to a test initiation input. The information sharing protocol test case tests the locking of storage locations to prevent data corruption responsive to being executed.

  • Patent number: 5944838
Abstract: A redundant storage control module (also referred to as RDAC or multi-active controller) maintains a queue of pending I/O requests sent for processing via a first asynchronously operating I/O path. In the event of failure of the first asynchronously operating I/O path, the controller restarts the entire queue of pending I/O requests to a second I/O path without waiting for each request to individually fail from the first path. Some prior techniques required the RDAC module to await failure of each I/O request sent to the failed first I/O path before restarting each failed request on the secondary I/O path. Such techniques greatly extend the total time required to restart all operations sent to a failed I/O path, by awaiting the failure of all I/O requests previously sent to the first I/O path.

  • Patent number: 5941995
Abstract: A reloading state analyzer for allowing a tree of trigger event sequences to be tracked is presented. The reloading state analyzer provides an input interface for receiving and conditioning input state data. A configuration memory stores configuration structures containing multiple compare terms and associated actions. A tree of configuration structures may be downloaded to the configuration memory from a user interface. The reloading state analyzer compares a plurality of current compare terms with input state data. When the input state data matches one of the current compare terms, an action associated with the matching compare term is executed. The action may be a state collection control action, such as an arm, disarm, trigger, collect or stop collection action, or it may be a reload action. If the action associated with the matching compare term is a reload action, a new set of compare terms are retrieved from the configuration memory and become the current compare terms.

  • Patent number: 5940627
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a programmable device with operational parameters applicable to successive operational environments. According to some aspects, the method includes the steps of programming memory with a common operational code applicable to multiple operational environments, programming memory with a first operational environment dependent code, operating said device in a first operational environment, changing to a second operational environment, adding a second operational environment dependent code, and operating in a second operational environment. According to some aspects, the apparatus comprises a programmable device operating according to a set of operational parameters reprogrammably stored therein.

  • Patent number: 5938774
Abstract: A program repairing apparatus is provided for use on an embedded microprocessor system to repair any faulty program segments that are stored in a permanent data storage unit, such as a mask ROM (read-only memory) incorporated in the embedded microprocessor system. These faulty program segments are repaired by using a number of repair program segments loaded in a reloadable storage unit, such as a RAM (random-access memory) unit that represent the correct versions of the faulty program segments. With this program repairing apparatus, the programs stored in the ROM unit can be repaired without carrying out a mask programming process. In this program repairing apparatus, the starting addresses of the faulty program segments in the ROM unit are registered in a faulty-segment address table and the starting addresses of the repair program segments in the RAM unit are registered in a repair-segment address table.

  • Patent number: 5916301
Abstract: The concept of integer ratio sample rate conversion is extended to fractional values, where the exact ratio is expressed as ?M+N/D!/L with L being a constant. This methodology allows sample rate conversion for all synchronous rates, where all rates are derived from the same crystal oscillator. For the implementation, the value of N/D is accumulated and depending on the overflow condition, either M or M+1 is selected as sample rate ratio for the conversion of each sample.
