By using above-mentioned molding die, a possible molding residue left in a molding step can easily be removed together with the cleaning layer.

    Abstract: A method for molding a gasket or casing around a peripheral portion of sheet material with portions of a separate part embedded within the gasket and other portions extending out of the gasket is disclosed. Preferably, the method is used to form vehicular window assemblies and includes inserting a separate part in a pocket or recess in one of two cooperating mold sections prior to closing the mold, closing the mold such that a portion of the separate part is urged tightly against a part of the recess by the sheet material in the mold, and filling the mold cavity to embed part of the separate part in the gasket while another portion extends out of the cavity.

    Abstract: A printhead is formed by injecting unfilled nylon by injection unit 1 and mineral filled nylon by injection unit 3. The filling adds impact resistance for printing, while the unfilled nylon is particularly resistant to flexural fatigue near the hub of the printwheel. Unit 1 is operated first to form an outer layer, with quantity limited so that the outer layer comes to about the middle of the arms of printheads. Unit 3 is then operated to form a core and to be the only material forming the character elements. The resulting printhead is durable and is capable of use at greater deflection than the same printhead made of only the impact resistant material.

    Abstract: A method of taping a product and a tape dispenser. A support for a roll of tape is mounted in a frame and a lever unit is pivotally mounted in the frame. A cutter head and a tape roller are carried by the lever unit, with the tape following a path from the initial roll of tape over the roller to the cutter head, with the adhesive side of the tape exposed and away from the components of the dispenser. The cutter head is pivotally mounted on the lever unit and a linkage provides for pivoting the cutter head from a tab folding position to a cutting position as tape is pulled from the roll, over the roller and onto the product. The taped product is cut from the remainder of the tape at the cutter thereby releasing the pulling force on the lever unit which returns to its original position producing slack in the tape which is folded over to produce the desired tab.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus adapted for use on a conveyor line to form a rolled tab in the tail end portion of a roll of plastic film wound on a core. The tail end portion initially extends around the surface of the roll to which the tail end portion adheres and terminates at a tail edge. The apparatus includes a bucket which is connected to the conveyor line for movement thereon and has a floor and wall extending therefrom. The floor of the bucket has a tractional surface supporting the roll and the wall has a substantially frictionless surface pushing the roll in the direction of the conveyor line. The apparatus further includes a drive, extending in stationary position substantially parallel to the conveyor line and having a resilient tractional surface being compressed into rotational contact with the roll, for rotating the roll.
