  • Patent number: 11224776
Abstract: A terminal fixture is provided for installation at the end of each sprinkler head drop in a fire protection system. The terminal fixture is an automatic valve device that operates in response to the installation or removal of a sprinkler head from the fixture itself. When the sprinkler head is removed the terminal valve operates to close the end of the sprinkler drop feed line to prevent flow of fire protection fluid by preventing an open system. When a sprinkler head is reinstalled into the valve, the valve plunger is automatically displaced to an open position to restore full and unobstructed flow to the sprinkler head returning the drop to full and operable status. In this manner, no manual valves are added to the system which would prevent failsafe operation thereof.

  • Patent number: 11193603
Abstract: A pressure relief valve with a trigger mechanism having a plurality of tines on the ejector which engage with a fixed stop. The tine ends and/or the fixed stop are chamfered. The valve opens when the force from the contained fluid exceeds the force of the spring plus the force necessary to move the tines out of alignment with the fixed stop. The trigger pressure of the valve can be adjusted by adjusting the geometry of the tines. This is accomplished by using interchangeable tine sections on the ejector. Pressure is contained by a primary seal located on the outer diameter of the ejector.

  • Patent number: 11162598
Abstract: The invention relates to petroleum engineering, and more particularly to the design of a check valve that can be used in conjunction with downhole sucker-rod pumps or electric centrifugal pumps primarily intended for pumping fluids with a high solid particle content. A ball check valve comprises: a hollow cylindrical housing having an internal annular protrusion; a valve pair mounted inside said housing and being in the form of an annular seat and a ball locking member; and a means for limiting the movement of the closure member, which is in the form of a cage with through holes for fluid flow. Between the seat and the cage there is mounted an annular elastic member, the inner diameter of which is not greater than the diameter of the ball locking member. The annular elastic element performs a dual function: when closing the valve provides additional pressing of the ball locking element to the seat due to the arising elastic forces; and provides additional sealing.

  • Patent number: 11105352
Abstract: Methods described herein provide a way to reduce or eliminate drag and adhesion of a substance flowing over a surface by creating a vapor cushion via evaporation of a phase-changing material of or on the surface or encapsulated within textures of the surface. The vapor cushion causes the flowing substance to be suspended over the surface, greatly reducing friction, drag, and adhesion between the flowing substance and the surface. The temperature of the flowing substance is above the sublimation point and/or melting point of the phase-changing material. The phase-changing material undergoes a phase change (evaporation or sublimation) upon contact with the flowing substance due to local heat transfer from the flowing substance to the material, generating a vapor cushion between the solid or liquid material and the flowing substance.
