  • Patent number: 10655146
Abstract: The present invention provides a recombinant turkey herpesvirus modified by the presence of the cDNA encoding the hemagglutinin protein of avian influenza virus under a promoter. A poultry vaccine comprising the recombinant turkey herpesvirus described in the present invention can induce serological responses that may be easily detected by the hemagglutination inhibition assay but not by commercially available diagnostic ELISA kits; thus enabling easy differentiation between vaccination and field infection.

  • Patent number: 10617729
Abstract: To increase the therapeutic potential of these oncolytic viruses based on a 24 base pair deletion in the viral E1 A gene (D24), a conditionally replicating adenovirus targeting multiple receptors upregulated on tumors was generated by incorporating an Ad5/3 fiber with a carboxyl terminus RGD ligand. The virus displayed full cytopathic effect in tumor lines assayed at low titers with improved cytotoxicity over Ad5-RGD D24, Ad5/3 D24 and an HSV oncolytic virus. The virus was further engineered to deliver immunotherapeutic agents such as GMCSF while maintaining enhanced heterogenic oncolysis.

  • Patent number: 10610596
Abstract: Disclosed and claimed are methods for making solid vaccine compositions that have reduced foaming when mixed with liquid diluent. The methods include mixing an effective amount of a foam controlling agent with at least one anhydrous antigenic component, a stabilizer, and an effervescent agent. The foam controlling agent is a sugar alcohol, such as mannitol. The effective amount of sugar alcohol is about 15% to about 40% by weight of the solid vaccine composition. And, upon adding a diluent to the solid vaccine composition, the effervescent agent reacts to form gas in situ, and foam resulting from the gas is reduced.

  • Patent number: 10590177
Abstract: The present invention provides modified cupredoxin derived peptides with pharmacologic activity that have improved pharmacokinetic properties, and methods to use them to treat mammals suffering from various conditions related to the pharmacologic activities. Modifications of the cupredoxin derived peptides include amino acid sequence variants and structural derivations that increase the plasma half-life of the peptide, increase the specific activity of the pharmacologic activity, decrease immunogenicity, and decrease the biotransformation of the peptides. The modified cupredoxin derived peptides can be used in methods to treat mammals for cancer, conditions elated to inappropriate angiogenesis, viral and bacterial infections, and specifically HIV and malaria, conditions related to ephrin signaling, and to deliver cargo compounds, including diagnostic compounds, to cancer cells.

  • Patent number: 10590174
Abstract: The present invention relates to a genomic sequences encoding for an attenuated mutant Zika virus. The inventors have introduced some specific substitutions at very specific positions in the epidemic genomic sequence for restoring some fixation sites for miR-4279 that were originally present in the endemic genomic sequence. Moreover the inventors have additionally introduced mutation leading to the abrogation of the N-glycosylation site on the E protein which will prevent the generation of auto-antibodies responsible for Guillain-Barre syndrome. The inventors have produced additional mutations of the virus that result to a dramatic reduction of the cytopathic effects without affecting the capacity to produce high titers of virus. In particular the present invention relates to a genomic sequence characterized by the sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 wherein at least one site of fixation for miR-4279 is restored.

  • Patent number: 10564160
Abstract: An improved assay is described where a surface is provided with immobilized anti-Ig antibodies rather than antigen and where specific antibody-secreting cells (ASC) are detected using soluble antigen probes containing one of several possible labels. The method gives improved sensitivity with less background and is also more representative because antigen binding does not employ immobilized antigen. The assay is particularly effective for measuring antibody secreting cells against HIV, for determining whether an infection is acute as opposed to old or latent, for mapping epitopes and for measuring for ASCs against different antigens in the same reaction.
