  • Patent number: 11543287
Abstract: Systems, methods, and structures that provide distributed acoustic sensing using chirped optical pulses of selectable duration and bandwidth, at a frame rate limited by a round-trip propagation time of a fiber under test. Instead of processing a transmitted chirped pulse as a single sequence—our systems, methods, and structures employ a parallel fragmented multiband architecture, where each tributary correlates the received signal with a truncated chirped pulse to obtain the Rayleigh impulse response over its frequency band. By reducing the duration of the chirp processed by each tributary, spatial leakage is reduced at all the tributaries, thus even after combining all the interferometric products from all tributaries using a rotated vector sum, the resultant signal is much less impacted by spatial leakage than by using a conventional TGD-OFDR method.

  • Patent number: 11543311
Abstract: A sensor for at least detecting steering torque of a steel steering column includes a magnetic field generating element which is configured to generate a magnetic field. The magnetic field penetrates the steering column so as to magnetize a steel material thereof. The sensor also includes a magnetic field detection element which is configured to detect a magnetic field change caused by a magnetoelastic effect of the magnetized steel material of the steering column when the steering column is subjected to torque stress. An output signal of the magnetic field detection element characterizes steering torque. The sensor also includes a base plate bearing the magnetic field generating element and the magnetic field detection element. The base plate is spaced from and separate from the steel steering column. The magnetic field generating element and the magnetic field detection element are directly mounted on the base plate.

  • Patent number: 11526182
Abstract: Devices, including robotic devices, operating in viscous fluid flow can use passive sensor data collected to represent fluid parameters at an instant in time to derive information about the flow, the motion and position of the device, and parameters of the physical system constraining the flow. Using quasi-static analysis techniques, and appropriate feature selection for machine learning, very accurate determinations can be made, generally in real time, with very modest computational requirements. These determinations can then be used to map systems, navigate devices through a system, or otherwise control the actions of, e.g., robotic devices for clean-up, leak detection, or other functions.

  • Patent number: 11513014
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an apparatus and a processing unit configured for sensing electrical activity with improved temporal and spatial electrode configuration. The apparatus includes a first layer configured to collect pressure data and a second layer comprising a plurality of electrodes configured to sense electrical activity. The processing unit is communicatively coupled to the apparatus to select a subset of the plurality of electrodes of the second layer from which electrical activity is measured based on an orientation of a user determined by received pressure data from the first layer. In an example, a body map of an individual can be produced from pressure distribution information received from the apparatus. This body map can then be used to select specific electrodes to measure the individual's electrical activity based on the body map pressure distribution information.
