  • Patent number: 10310954
Abstract: A control device includes a processor configured to copy a part of data stored in a first volume to a second volume, copy whole data stored in the first volume to a destination volume, and receive a request to read first data stored in the second volume. The processor is configured to read the first data from the second volume when the first data has been partially copied to the second volume. The processor is configured to read, when the first data has not been partially copied to the second volume, the first data from the first volume on basis of association information associating the first volume with the second volume. The processor is configured to identify, upon failing to read the first data from the first volume, the equivalent volume on basis of recovery information related to the destination volume as an equivalent volume of the first volume.

  • Patent number: 10303686
Abstract: In one aspect there is a method. The method may include associating a query received from an application with a hint, wherein the hint modifies an execution of the query. The method may further include an optimizer to compile the query according to the hint to produce a second query plan. When no hint is associated with the query, the optimizer may produce a first query plan. The method may further include storing the hint in a persistent table to enable state preservation during a database restart or binary upgrade, and/or executing the query using the second query plan.

  • Patent number: 10296595
Abstract: A multi-level namespace management system. The system comprises a processing unit; and a memory, the memory containing instructions that, when executed by the processing unit, configure the namespace management system to: maintain a plurality of multi-level namespaces for data stored by a storage system, wherein each of the plurality of multi-level namespaces designates at least one of: at least one personal folder of a user, at least one shared-folder being shared with the user by other users, and at least one project namespace designating at least one project folder that is accessible by the user; and maintain for each of the plurality of multi-level namespaces, an escalation policy enabling a potential escalation of the at least one personal folder to the at least one project namespace, thereby allowing the at least one personal folder to be viewed and accessed throughout a hierarchy of the at least one project namespace.

  • Patent number: 10289641
Abstract: Techniques are described for determining recommended tourist based on the real time collection and analysis of biological information regarding users. Sensors in proximity to a user may collect neural activity data (e.g., brain wave data) and physiological data (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar level, etc.). The biological information may be analyzed to determine, for each user, an emotion metric indicating an emotional state of the user at various times. The emotion metrics may be correlated with location data to determine the emotion metric of the user at various sites during a trip. Tag metadata describing the location(s) may be clustered through semantic analysis to generate clusters of semantically similar tags. Emotion metric scores for the clusters may be employed to predict destination(s) where the user(s) may exhibit positive emotion metrics, and the predicted destination(s) may be presented to users in advertisements or other content.

  • Patent number: 10241699
Abstract: A method, apparatus or software is disclosed for transferring storage replication system configurations between heterogeneous storage systems. Storage replication system configuration data for a source storage system is translated from a source form into a canonical form for representing a storage replication system. A set of configuration commands are determined for implementing the storage replication system configuration data on a target storage system based on the canonical form of the translated storage replication system configuration data. The storage replication system is transferred from the source storage system to a target storage system, the configuration commands being used to configure the storage replication system on the target storage system.

  • Patent number: 10235215
Abstract: A memory lock mechanism within a multi-processor system is disclosed. A lock control section is initially assigned to a data block within a system memory of the multiprocessor system. In response to a request for accessing the data block by a processing unit within the multiprocessor system, a determination is made by a memory controller whether or not the lock control section of the data block has been set. If the lock control section of the data block has been set, the request for accessing the data block is denied. Otherwise, if the lock control section of the data block has not been set, the lock control section of the data block is set, and the request for accessing the data block is allowed.

  • Patent number: 10210246
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to performing similarity metric analysis and data enrichment using knowledge sources. A data enrichment service can compare an input data set to reference data sets stored in a knowledge source to identify similarly related data. A similarity metric can be calculated corresponding to the semantic similarity of two or more datasets. The similarity metric can be used to identify datasets based on their metadata attributes and data values enabling easier indexing and high performance retrieval of data values. A input data set can labeled with a category based on the data set having the best match with the input data set. The similarity of an input data set with a data set provided by a knowledge source can be used to query a knowledge source to obtain additional information about the data set. The additional information can be used to provide recommendations to the user.

  • Patent number: 10210210
Abstract: An access plan including multiple indexes is selected for accessing data of a database system. A filtering status of each index within the selected access plan is determined based on information available at execution of the selected access plan. The order of the indexes within the selected access plan is modified based on the filtering status of the indexes, and the selected access plan is executed with the modified order of the indexes. The execution of the selected access plan is interrupted in response to accessing a threshold amount of data and the filtering of the indexes of the selected access plan is estimated. A processing order for the indexes is determined based on the estimated filtering. The execution of the selected access plan resumes based on the determined processing order.

  • Patent number: 10210261
Abstract: In one embodiment, a set of user groups of a social-networking system may be accessed. A first subset of the user groups may be determined for a particular user of the social-networking system, based on one or more filtering criteria. A number of recommendation-source processes may be applied to the first subset to determine a number of second subsets of the first set. Each recommendation-source process may represent a particular recommendation source. The second subsets may be combined into a list of user groups. The list of user groups may be ranked, and sent to the particular user.

  • Patent number: 10210227
Abstract: Embodiments relate to processing a data set stored in a computer system. In one aspect, a method of processing a data set stored in a computer system includes providing one or more parameters for quantifying data quality of the data set. A processor generates, for each parameter of the one or more parameters, a reference pattern indicating a dysfunctional behavior of the values of the parameter. The data set is processed to obtain values of the one or more parameters. A parameter of the one or more parameters is identified whose obtained values match a corresponding reference pattern of the generated reference patterns. The identified parameter is assigned a resource weight value indicating the amount of processing resources required to fix the dysfunctional behavior of the identified parameter.

  • Patent number: 10198452
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that track a document within a file system using document identifier (DOCID) that is preserved during safe save operations. The DOCID can be a universally unique identifier (UUID). The DOCID can be generated on a local file system or generated during a synchronization process with a remote synchronization service. Applications can opt in to document tracking. The kernel of the operating system can monitor file system operations on a per-application and per-thread basis and determine when a processing thread is about to perform a safe save. When a sequence of file system operations indicates that a safe save is to be performed, the kernel can generate and store a tombstone record that includes the DOCID and other metadata of the tracked document and pass the DOCID and metadata to the newly saved document.
