  • Patent number: 12258786
Abstract: A method for unlocking and/or locking a privacy lockset from the exterior of the lockset or door and without the use of buttons, keys, or an object inserted into the lockset or door. The operator manipulates a magnetic object, such as a magnet or piece of ferrous metal, on the exterior of the door or lockset to cause an internal magnet attached to a rod to move the rod in and out of a collar, the far end of the rod in turn actuating the lock into a locked and/or unlocked position. Rotational, lateral, and/or thrust forces may be configured to actuate the lock. The invention may apply to rim locks, mortise locks, sliding door locks, cylinder locks, and non-keyed deadbolts.

  • Patent number: 12215523
Abstract: An actuator controlled electric strike for operating in conjunction with a latch of a lockset. The strike comprises a keeper support bracket movable between first and second positions. When the bracket is in the first position a keeper is held in either a locked or unlocked position, and when the bracket is in the second position the keeper is movable to the other position. An actuating mechanism is operatively connected to the bracket and is configured to allow the bracket to move between the first and second positions. First and second biasing mechanisms apply a net force to the bracket. The first biasing mechanism applies a first force to the bracket in the first direction, and the second biasing mechanism applies a second force to the bracket in the second direction. When the bracket is in the first position, the net force of the biasing member is approximately zero.

  • Patent number: 12163360
Abstract: A latch assembly for a closure panel of a vehicle includes a power release actuator, a pawl, a ratchet, and a multi-stage geartrain. The multi-stage geartrain includes a first compound gear and a second sector gear in meshed engagement with the compound gear. The sector gear includes an arm extending radially therefrom. In a rest position, a gap is defined between the arm and a cam surface of a pawl. Actuation of the power release actuator actuates the multi-stage geartrain and pivots the arm through the gap and into contact with the pawl. During pivoting through the gap, inertia is increased and the arm contacts the pawl with an impulse force. Continued rotation of the arm causes further rotation of the pawl and release of the ratchet. The arm is disposed within an axial height defined by the multi-stage geartrain, and torque applied to the arm increases during rotation.
