    Abstract: This invention relates to a composite laminate, a layup and preform for such a composite laminate and to a method of manufacturing the composite laminate. The layup (28), preform and composite laminate (22) include at least one ply (20) which includes hairy yarn (10). The action of the hairy yarn (10) is to provide cross ply linking owing to the extension of fibers from the hairy yarn into spaces both within the ply and between the plies. The addition of resin matrix material (26) to layup provides a firm cross ply linkage to the composite laminate.

The process of forming a non-woven batt layer and a foam layer having conforming convoluted surfaces comprises transporting each layer along its longitudinal dimension while compressing each layer along its lateral dimension. Concomitantly with compression, each layer is cut transversely along its lateral dimension to separate each layer into an upper segment and a lower segment and to provide conforming convoluted surfaces on the segments of each layer, the convoluted surfaces comprised of upstanding projections and depressions.

The polylactic acid resin is a resin consisting mainly of a polylactic acid and is characterized in that it is linear, has an L-isomer content of 95 mol % or higher, an Sn content of 30 ppm or lower, a monomer content of 0.50 wt. % or lower, and has a relative viscosity of 2.7 to 3.9 or has a weight-average molecular weight of 120,000 to 220,000 and a number-average molecular weight of 60,000 to 110,000. Each of the textile products comprises the polylactic acid resin as the main material. The textile products each comprises a polylactic acid that is excellent in processability and excellent fiber properties. The free textile products are problems in practical use.

    Abstract: A non-crimped, unidirectional fabric. The fabric includes a plurality of non-crimped, unidirectional fibers arranged parallel to one another. Weft fibers are arranged perpendicular to the non-crimped, unidirectional fibers. Warp fibers are arranged parallel to the non-crimped, unidirectional fibers. The weft fibers are woven around the non-crimped, unidirectional fibers and around the warp fibers without crimping the unidirectional fibers. A non-woven thermoplastic fabric is secured, such as by melt bonding, to the non-crimped unidirectional fibers to act as a toughening layer and improve the impact resistance of the fabric after it is molded into a part.

    Abstract: A cushion sheet has a sheet body and a low-friction layer formed on the sheet body. The low-friction layer is formed by a plurality of synthetic resin fibers. The synthetic resin fibers are bonded with a surface of the sheet body in a state resembling a spread cloth. It is preferred that the diameter of each of the synthetic resin fibers be set in a range of 10 to 600 micrometers. It is also preferred that the amount of the synthetic resin fibers bonded with the surface of the sheet body be set in a range of 5 to 100 grams per square meter of the sheet body.

Once pre-saturated with a cleaning solution, the wiping product is particularly well suited to cleaning and/or disinfecting surfaces, such as toilet seats prior to use. Because the nonwoven web is water dispersible, the wiper may be disposed of by being flushed down a toilet.
