  • Patent number: 7144624
Abstract: A thermal interface includes nanofibrils. The nanofibrils may be attached to a flat base or membrane, or may be attached to the tip portions of larger diameter fibers. The nanofibrils have a diameter of less than about 1 micron, and may advantageously be formed from single walled and/or multi-walled nanotubes.

  • Patent number: 7105227
Abstract: The leather-like sheet substrate of the invention comprises a nonwoven fabric of three-dimensionally entangled superfine fibers (A) of at most 0.5 dtex in fineness and a polymer elastomer (B) filled in the entangled interspaces of the nonwoven fabric, in which the superfine fibers (A) comprise an organophosphorus component-copolymerized polyester and the polymer elastomer (B) contains a metal hydroxide or is copolymerized with an organophosphorus component. The leather-like sheet substrate of the invention and artificial leather obtained from it contain no halogen and are resistant to flames. These have a soft feel and are suitable to applications in the interior field that requires flame retardancy, especially to seats for vehicles, etc.

  • Patent number: 7094714
Abstract: This is a new method for the construction of waterproof insulated products, by creating individual insulation-filled compartments without stitching through the outer shell of the product. This invention further provides methods for constructing waterproof insulation products without requiring the attachment of the individual compartments to the inner lining.

  • Patent number: 7081423
Abstract: The invention is directed to a nonwoven material made of a bicomponent fiber in which the first polymer is a cellulose ester polymer, preferably cellulose acetate, and the second polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyesters, polyamides and polyimides. The bicomponent fiber can be either a side-by-side or a core-and-sheath fibers. When core-and-sheath, the cellulose acetate is the sheath polymer. The nonwoven material of the invention can be used to prepare grips, materials for use in absorbent products such as diapers and personal hygiene products, disposable towels and other products. The nonwoven of the invention has particular utility for disposable diaper products due to the superior fluid acquisition, retention and distribution properties of the cellulose ester, yet avoids the high cost of all cellulose acetate fibers by use of a much less expensive second polymer to form part the bicomponent fiber.

  • Patent number: 7033965
Abstract: A cleaning sheet having a cleaning surface comprising a cleaning area for cleaning a piled surface and a low-friction area which adjoins the cleaning area. The cleaning area has a coefficient of static friction of 0.1 to 4.0 against wool press felt (JIS L3201 R33W). The low-friction area comprises a film or nonwoven fabric and has a coefficient of static friction of 0.01 to 1.0 against wool press felt (JIS L3201 R33W).

  • Patent number: 7008887
Abstract: The present invention relates to cellulosic substrates with reduced absorbent capacity having the capability to wick liquids, as well as to methods of manufacturing such cellulosic substrates. The cellulosic substrates provided by the present invention comprise an inside and an outside connected to the inside. The inside comprises cellulosic fibers and has a reduced absorbent capacity, and the outside comprises cellulosic fibers. The outside may have a reduced absorbent capacity and may have an absorbent capacity higher than the inside. The cellulosic substrate is capable of wicking liquid contacting the inside of the substrate to the outside of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6180020
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polishing method using a grindstone comprising abrasive grains and a bonding resin for bonding the abrasive grains, as well as to a polishing apparatus to be used for the polishing method. By using a resin for bonding abrasive grains, it is possible to obtain a grindstone having a desired modulus of elasticity. With such a grindstone, the surface of a substrate having concave and convex portions can be rendered uniformly flat, irrespective of the size of the concave and convex portions. Further, by first polishing the substrate surface with a polishing tool of a small elastic modulus and thereafter polishing it with a polishing tool of a large elastic modulus, it is possible to obtain a polished surface of reduced damage. The method of the invention is effective in planarizing various substrate surfaces having concave and convex portions.

  • Patent number: 6090208
Abstract: Plugging of the effluent line of an apparatus comprising CVD chamber is prevented or substantially reduced by injecting a hot gas into the effluent line during processing. In CVD tungsten processing, including preconditioning the reaction chamber, deposition, and cleaning, a hot gas, such as dried air or nitrogen, is injected into the effluent line downstream of the vacuum pump to maintain the temperature of the internal walls of the effluent line below that at which condensation of WOF.sub.4 occurs. In another embodiment, periodic high bursts of a hot gas into the effluent line removes WO.sub.3 deposits proximate the inlet of the downstream wet scrubber.
