  • Patent number: 4019658
Abstract: An integrated unit associated with the shower head adapted for mounting in a shower stall. The unit contains conventional aerosol cans or containers for fluids such as soap and/or shampoo and the like. The aerosol cans are positioned to dispense into cavities, there being channels controlled by valves, providing communication between these channels, and a tube or pipe leading to the shower head for mixing the fluid controllably with the shower water. Associated with the cavities are manually actuatable plungers which are operable to cause dispensing of fluids from the cavities. Manually actuatable means can be provided for actuating the aerosol can valves to dispense.

  • Patent number: 4018366
Abstract: Apparatus comprising a nozzle for dispensing a fluent solid product, e.g., a dry ingredient such as instant coffee, instant tea, sugar, coffee lightener, chocolate or soup mix, in a hot beverage vendor, having a chute for delivering the product into a mixing bowl of the vendor where the product is mixed with hot water flowing through the bowl. The nozzle comprises a tubular body closed at one end constituting its outer end and having a lateral outlet, the tubular body being adapted to receive an auger of the dispenser for feeding the product through the body and thence out of the outlet. The chute is on a sleeve having a telescoping sliding fit on the tubular body. The sleeve has a lateral opening which registers with the outlet of the tubular body when the sleeve is in place on the body for flow of the product to the chute.

  • Patent number: 4015870
Abstract: This invention relates to a pedestrian protection device for motor vehicles which comprises essentially a hinged member adapted to be raised to an operative position from a normally lower inoperative position on the motor vehicle.More particularly, this hinged member constitutes a kind of transverse beam or barrier having side flanges provided with two series of connecting means associated with a pair of trunnions permitting the rotation of said beam and secured to said side flanges. The second series of connecting means provides an operative connection between the beam and the thrust rod of a cylinder and piston unit having its cylinder pivoted to the vehicle body. The essential purpose of this device is to protect pedestrians against the dangers of running into a car.

  • Patent number: 4013139
Abstract: An improved motor Speed Actuated Vehicle Bumper wherein a cam and linkage arrangement combined with a spring is provided to restrain an inward movement of a bumper under collision conditions. The restraint increases as the speed of the vehicle on which it is installed so that its effectiveness is substantially constant over a range of vehicle speeds. The present improvement utilizes the speed responsive restraint, but in addition, it provides means for gradually extending the bumper in accordance with the speed of the vehicle. Thus, in addition to increasing the restraint with vehicle speed, the travel of the bumper is also increased with speed thereby dissipating the force of a collision over a greater travel of the bumper.

  • Patent number: 4010873
Abstract: A resilient frame for accommodating a tube of amorphous material has a cover part in operative proximity with a tube of amorphous material accommodated therein. A tube compressing device in the frame is guided by the frame for compressing the tube from the end thereof to the area of the neck thereof. The tube compressing device moves the cover part in a manner whereby the cover part covers the opening of the neck of the tube when the tube compressing device is a maximum distance from the neck of the tube and the cover part frees the opening of the neck of the tube for the transfer of amorphous material when the tube compressing device is moved toward the neck of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4010974
Abstract: A truck to haul live poultry has compartments arranged in horizontal rows and vertical tiers, there being two rows of tiers opening onto the opposite sides respectively of the truck. The walls of the compartments are formed by wall members incorporating vertical tubes and the floors and ceilings are formed by horizontal panels. Vertical rods extend upward from the truck bed through the horizontal panels and through the vertical tubes of the wall members to form a unified structure. The invention teaches that the number of vertical rods required may be minimized by employing special brackets to anchor the wall members and/or by making some wall members angular instead of linear. The number of vertical rods required for a horizontal row of N number of vertical tiers of compartments is reduced to 2N + 2.

  • Patent number: 4010934
Abstract: A pitcher or similar container of generally cylindrical shape having a closure member for the open upper end of the container, a tubular housing extending axially of the container and mounted in the closure element for rotary and axial movements therein, and an axial shaft mounted in the housing for axial movements with the housing and for rotation relative to the housing. A generally disk-like impeller is mounted on the lower end of the shaft. The tubular housing and closure member have portions that cooperate to limit upward movement of the impeller from the bottom of the container to various levels above the container bottom. Retainer members operate to confine solids below a given liquid level in the container and to limit access of outside air to liquid in the container.

  • Patent number: 4008830
Abstract: A liquid dispenser which permits dispensing liquid or viscous semi-liquid products from an unpressurized container using a non-vented pump in which a rigid outer container open on one end and having a breathing hole holds a flexible collapsible bag, filled with the product to be dispensed; the bag is affixed to the container as by extending through the open container end and the bag ends overlapping the containers edges, and the non-vented pump installed therein placed on or over the open container end so as to seal the bag against the outer container. When operated, the force of the atmospheric pressure, acting through the hole, partially collapses the bag, and forces the liquid to be dispensed into the pump.

  • Patent number: 4003505
Abstract: An aerosol dispenser can has a cylindrical body and an outwardly-concave bottom divided into an outer annular frusto-spherical part and a central dome like part by a plurality of discrete generally tangential scores spaced apart in circular configuration, the central part having a greater radius of curvature than the outer part. Generally tangential scores may also be spaced around a rolled rim at the edge of the bottom. These scores weaken the resistance of the bottom to outward deformation so that in the case of a certain internal overpressure, the bottom firstly deforms outwardly and one or more scores then gradually rip, without propagation of the ripping, to release the overpressure. The neighboring ends of adjacent scores may be arranged out of alignment with one another to prevent propagation of ripping from one score to the next.
